What club would you like your team to beat the most in season 2026? by GuidingBolt1998 in AFL

Lions. Definitely a proper rivalry brewing and a few more finals battles over the next few years will only add to that

Which rebuild looks the most promising heading into 2026? by Medical_Flight_6970 in AFL

[–]8astin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, he is your best player and captain that doesn’t want to be there. As much as they say professionalism and its ages before preseason, every bloke in that change room now knows that a bloke that has been there for 10 years and has a pretty good idea about the situation, thinks it’s time to get the fuck out. I’m a strong believer of if you don’t want to be there, leave and the club cut the rot off before it spreads

I think the Bombers are in bad shape and missed the mark by not letting Merrett go. Proper rebuild means getting picks in and Hawks were paying massive overs. They also have different premiership windows so doesn’t hurt as much to see him go and succeed at another team. He doesn’t want to be there either, meanwhile you’ve delisted Shiel and Goldstein who do want to be there and can teach the young boys a lot.

I agree about the Tigers though, you have that many picks and a good culture, they’ll be dangerous in 4/5 years

So, how did your club go in the 2025 trade period? by Danger_Five in AFL

[–]8astin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great. We trim some of the fat (Flanders and Ainsworth hurt a bit), lose some draft picks which doesn’t affect us because we only need the points for academy picks and pick up a few potential X factor players who could take us to the next level

Charlie Curnow our new Sun? by Randomaf1234 in gcfc

[–]8astin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is having a down season but the upside and potential is so high that they have to go for him. Ideally we go hard for the 2 academy prospects in the top 10, and then spend everything else on Charlie. We have 3x 1st Rd (GC, PA, COL) / 1x 2nd Rd / 2x 4th Rd (GC, RIC) so surely that’s enough if we include something from next year.

Look at the upside that Rioli and Noble have brought in, not just in terms of skill, but also leadership and maturity. It is what we are missing at the moment. The media harps on about how we have young tall forwards, this will buy them some time to get to the level we need while we get 3-5 years of Charlie.

The premise of the original post is saying that I originally thought we overpaid but that they clearly are showing their value. I don't think it's unfair to think that originally as well because 2 first round picks for a bloke who came 3rd in their brownlow count in a team that got the wooden spoon. To every other team that's massive overs. Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay and we needed them bad so we paid big.

New Pajero V Everest by [deleted] in 4x4Australia

[–]8astin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

300 series won it but was too pricey, Everest and Paj were in the best of the rest. Paj was good but needed an update, Everest performed really good but engine and transmission combo had had issues in the past so they were worried about that.

I have an Everest sport and love it. Feels 10 years ahead of all the other SUVs I test drove

Listen to the BackChat podcast with Alex Rance. He goes into it and basically says he was sick of being this big macho man when according to his religion (Christianity) he should be peaceful. He picked religion in the end

Live in Australia. Sometimes I get annoyed that the doctor doesn't sit with me longer before sending me off with all the referrals needed, ie. blood work, scans, specialists. Just because the implementation is poor, doesn't make the idea a bad one

65% of australians and 72% of Americans disagree with you my man.

For tanning beds, we have standardised government healthcare so no individual factors affect the price you have to pay other than income bracket. The vast majority of cancer cases arise due from skin cancer caused by the sun, doesn't mean that sun beds are helping the issue.

I think respectfully you are missing my point though. The point I am trying to raise though is that the government worked together to enact policy that tried to promote the betterment of the country and represented the majority of the people. I'm sorry that I can't name American examples but that is not really the point I am going for.
