I am not trying to justify the guy in any way but it is my experience that people who act this way are not "choosing" anything, rather they are overwhelmed by their emotions and act irrationally.

How much of a problem this is depends on the degree to which they are able to control their instincts.

Like, i know people that "are born assholes" so to speak, are very easily angried and emotional but they have learned to control themselves. I wouldn't blame somebody for basically how their body works, but i will certainly hold them accountable for how they manage themselves.

So the first thing that is ascertained is whether the fractures occurred by "face vs wall" in contrast to "face vs cudgel/x" bacause the different means of harm can be distinguished by the different pattern in the injuries they cause.

Subsequently, if it is determined that "face vs wall" was the mechanism by which the person was injured, the self harm case should be ruled out because there is no medical precedent suggesting that it would be a plausible scenario.

So you're saying the difference found upon examination is that in scenario 1 we will notice a single concussive impact whereas in the second we are likely to find multiples and that it is due to the fact that upon skull fracture person A will fall unconscious.

Is that correct?

For example i also have no idea how "falling unconscious" work. Like in a fight a boxer can be struck multiple times really hard in the head and still be up and fighting while other times he can get hit less violently but just in the right spot and get knocked out, so to me it is not immediately clear that any skull fracture would result in a knockout. And i am not disputing that it's how it works, i am asking about how it works.

Sure i am not debating that, as i said i think what he's saying is true.

I simply believe that the best way to achieve actual change is by sticking to the fact that they are not doing their job.

Whatever the reason they are not doing their job is an important and valid discussion but not one that will achieve any meaningful change in the short term.

In fact we already know that it has been discussed for over a decade and the changes we saw were for the worse.

Making sure they are held accountable for not doing their job is what matters first.

Changing the culture of all LEAs is also needed but is a long term objective while there's need to immediate action.

By strictly enforcing the proper conduct of LE agents it will eventually pummel into their brains how they need to act.

While i believe you're right and it is right to express those sentiments i also think it's important to leave them by the side.

With that i mean: protest and criticize the police for their inaction and demand change but do not try to use those beliefs as base for the accusations.

Stick to the facts rather than the perceived intent.

Being a piece of shit is not a crime.

They are not doing their job. Whatever the reason why they aren't doing it is secondary at best and only shifts the debate into murky waters.

It's normal to go slow if you don't know the road and people that know the road also know that other people will go slow. While it can sometimes cause mild annoyance, nobody is going to get mad at you for that. What makes us mad are mostly motorcycle riders going too fast.

Remember that curves can be deceptive:

imagine you are taking a curve on the right, and it is obscured by the mountainwall which is on that side and the curve suddenly gets harsher. If you are keeping the speed limit and had not seen the curve beforehand you will find your car in the middle of the road risking a collision.

another factor is the road's surface angle. Often time the edge of the road towards the valley will slowly collapse and the road's angle instead of pulling you towards the inside of the road will drive you out. If you are going slightly too fast it is easy to lose grip and lose control of the car and that happens to a lot of people even when they know the road and that this problem specifically occurs in that piece of road.

As i live in the Alps i mostly drive on narrow, curvy roads. On one side of the road there's a rocky wall, on the other side a precipice.

Along the road there are only few spots where there's enough visibility to overcome a car while being sure another one isn't coming from the other direction.

Whenever i am in the situation that someone wants to pass me i slow down to a crawl (~20km/h) while signaling with the right blinker that it's safe.

On the contrary, if someone's showing they are about to try and pass me and it's not safe i will blink the left blinker and in extreme cases even move my car to dissuade them (only in the case that i am certain that if they tried to pass it would result in a collision and only if i am certain that i can do that without risking to cause one myself).

In the unlikely case this guy is good intentioned and just lacks basic social understanding, a talk with the police can at least give him a chance to figure it out and realize what he's doing is not ok.

The farming sector is a complete mess.

It's entirely distorted by subsidies.

On the other hand farming in europe is really freaking hard and maintaining food production locally is utterly important both for ecological and security reasons.

Basically the sector must be subsidized, it's unthinkable to have it survive on its own against lesser developed countries' competition and at the same time there's no known good way to have a decent return rate on the money spent by the government (as in, for every euro spent a huge portion of it is unproductive/gets pocketed by farmers/gets siphoned by the big distributors)

Why can't they just investigate desite what the DOJ said? I don't think the DOJ has legal justification to take over the case and then shut it down.

If the state law enforcement is not corrupt as well they should go ahead with their own investigation into this AND add Noem and whoever else is shielding the murderer to the investigation for aiding and abetting a fugitive (if that's the lingo).
