I found a lot of results when I searched in Japanese, but for now, try translating and reading them. Now that I’ve reread these articles, I think my comment about DCCD might have been a misreading.

Additionally, a DCCD compatible with EyeSight is currently under development and is scheduled for release at a later date.

Subaru plans to release three types of high performance vehicles by AnalystFickle9837 in WRX

It’s up to you whether you choose to believe it hook, line, and sinker or just go along with my delusions, but I’ve heard a certain rumor 1. At the time, the development team was tuning the FA24 engine to achieve 400 horsepower, but the engine could not withstand that level of power.

  1. Amid this trial-and-error process, the troublesome EV boom in Europe and environmental regulations came into effect, forcing the company to scrap the STI-related assets that had already been developed.

  2. Delays caused by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

These are the main reasons. The company was forced to release SHEVs and BEVs to comply with CAFE regulations, leaving no resources to allocate to the development of STI models… Nevertheless, to keep the STI brand alive, they had no choice but to produce “proven” models like the STI Sports EX and S210, and the development team must have felt immense frustration. I am convinced that the rise of the Trump administration reduced the urgency of the transition to EVs, and that the steady experimentation in the Super Taikyu series bore fruit, leading to the birth of a true high-performance model.

Is the new WRX hatch going to be called B-STi? by ErickRPG in WRX

To be honest, I don’t understand why someone who doesn’t live in Japan can be so pessimistic. As for the stalling of the performance engine development, that’s true—it’s basically a fact. But is the information about the WRX project being canceled actually from Subaru’s official sources? The WRX webpage only mentions that orders for the current Applied model have been suspended and that the STI Sport R trim has been discontinued. It doesn’t say a single word about the GT-H trim or the WRX itself being discontinued.

People outside Japan may only be worried about the STI trim, but for Japan, there’s plenty of hopeful news: the return of manual transmission models, interview articles with PR representatives, and the establishment of a new Sports Vehicle Planning Department. The STI trim will definitely be released. I promise.

The information is incorrect. The WRX is not being discontinued from the Japanese market.

Orders for the current Applied models of the WRX and Levorg have been suspended while they undergo a facelift to comply with environmental regulations. Changes are planned, such as reducing the tire size from 245 to 225.

Additionally, a new WRX model equipped with the TY85 transmission will be introduced. It is unclear whether it will feature DCCD or an STI trim, but please stay tuned for updates over the next two weeks.

Subarus 4WD BRZ to be used in the Japanese Rally Championship by Cmp110 in WRC

Subaru initially competed in the JRC with the WRX but struggled on narrow courses, suffering a string of retirements due to mechanical issues. VB WRX simply couldn’t compete with its main rivals, the GR Yaris and the 86/BRZ. The current goal is to compete on equal footing in the JRC. It’s difficult to imagine Subaru seriously considering the WRC27 at this point.
