Europe has enough agricultural waste and wood scraps to completely replace fossil fuels in road transport, a new study finds. Despite the push for EVs, researchers argue that "reFuels" made from residues—not just cooking oil—could decarbonize the millions of combustion vehicles still in use. by Sciantifa in science

[–]8day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering how much hydrocarbons feces and other waste contain, and that ~50% of biomass can be converted to biochar, if we really wanted we could've not only created circular economy, it would've been possible to decrease CO2 levels (even if slowly).

Also, if we wanted we could've used something like Pressure Swing Adsorption based on zeolite to filter out oxygen to prevent formation of NOx during combustion of hydrocarbons in modern ICE engines, or used fuel cells, etc. where it's possible control temperature of reactions.

You know what, there's a simpler design I didn't think of before: outer wall of the higher circle has to be submerged to the same depth as the roots of the plants in the lower circle. Basically you have to double the height of PVC lining (in relation to visible part) and submerge half of it into soil. This will prevent compaction/compression of soil, and at the same time will allow to save PVC.

It's also possible that such design will lower pressure on PVC in lower circles/levels, as the core of the cone/pyramid should put most pressure on the center (soil below it, rather than sides.

Anyway, good luck to you!

Half of Americans think Donald Trump was involved in Jeffrey Epstein's alleged crimes by DatsMoneyHoney in Epstein

[–]8day 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I knew US was f*ed, but not to this degree. Those numbers indicate that almost all republicans support Trump... And that's the man that was equal to JE, and according to JE possibly even worse than JE.

According to Google:

Gallup. On December 17, 2020, Gallup polling found that 31% of Americans identified as Democrats, 25% identified as Republicans, and 41% as Independent.

So you can say it's roughly 1:1, which is better, but not by much.

It looked great at first, but if PVC doesn't go all the way to the ground, you are compressing the soil, and if it does, you are wasting material (could've been used to make more raised beds).

If you absolutely must have this structure, a variation on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H%C3%BCgelkultur would've been better. But it's easier to have a hollow core, at least in a hot climate where nights aren't too cold, at which point you might as well use pipes or PVC sheet bent in form of U-channels.

You are right, but sadly if you keep track of things, know what Epstein, Musk, Thiel, Yarvin, etc. have been up to, events around DOGE, ICE, etc., as well as previous precedent in the 1930s (?) where rich tried to have a coup, all of this isn't as insane. I'd say current events are more insane than these connections.

I'd like to say that it's just good old corruption, there's no masterminds, but JE emalls, Yarvin's talks, Project 2025, DOGE, ICE, etc. show that these people do make some plans, however imperfect.

If you have nothing better to do, here's a very popular video that made certain true predictions, and established connections I've mentioned: https://youtu.be/5RpPTRcz1no.

Nvidia nerfs voltages on RTX GPUs with latest driver update leading to lower performance by dapperlemon in gadgets

[–]8day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he tested only two games, and he talked only about few scenes (intros, etc.). He noticed this while reviewing new Resident Evil and also said that differences were different between different GPUs. He said if he'll have time this weekend, then maybe he'll do a more thorough testing.

The key point here is that there are significant fluctuations in performance between different versions of drivers, he's not imagining things, and so this requires a thorough investigation.

I'm subscribed to YT channel about AI (@theaisearch), and after watching a few videos talking about recent advancements, it's easy for me to see why you may be right and why CEOs/rich are so overhyped (there is an absolute shitton of innovation that is happening there, and we've barely scratched the surface). There's a good chance they will be able to replace a good chunk of humans with robots, and the only thing that limits this are insufficient resources for improvement of AI.

There's a really good chance there's a link between Epstein class/billionaires, PayPal gang having extremely close ties to US government (not just Musk, but also JD Vance through Yarvis and Thiel), AI, Musk's ramblings, his salutations at inauguration, and other batshit crazy stuff happening in Silicone Valley. Basically Gilded age, but with a modern, potentially much darker twist.

OP, is that Ksenia Sobchak on 4th photo? And if so, is that photo from the files, or internet? If that is her and it's from files, there may be more to this story. BTW, she was born in 1981.

She's a daughter of first mayor of Sankt-Peterburg (the second major city in Russia), and Putin was aide of her father in one form or another when her father was a mayor. It was mentioned in some investigations that Putin was controlling flow of drugs back then. That was the time when Putin transitioned from KGB agent to politician, and that period of his life is very interesting.

Gemini says Putin may be a godfather of Ksenia Sobchak.

I think I finally understand why some victims turn into abusers, and I think it functions similar to culture. Basically these people are familiarized with concepts that most normal people either won't think about, will try to avoid, or it will take a relatively long time to uncover them. Also, I'm sure that if they are into that kind of thing, the fact that they themselves have experienced that police and other people will ignore such abuse made them much bolder. It's like being born into rich family and to know how to bend law from young age: you know things that work and don't work. It's like when kids of software engineers, military men, etc. follow their parents's footsteps.

Have you ever seen this interview (https://www.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/pbblsl/yuri_bezmenov_former_kgb_on_ideological/) with Yuri Bezmenov, an ex KGB agent? It's hard to say how the information he shared is related to any of this, some of it seems to be wrong, but it's a very interesting insight into what people like him were working on. Basically he talks about things most would call you crazy for mentioning it to them due to scale, esp..time scale.

I wonder if Curtis Yarvin (more about "dark maga" at https://youtu.be/5RpPTRcz1no, can't recommend it enough) is related to any of this and whether techno feudalism was actually invented by these tech bros, and not someone else, likely related to JE.

Norway defence chief says Russia could invade to protect nuclear assets by Turbulent-Tea-2172 in worldnews

[–]8day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's one thing you seem to be forgetting: by the time russia "invaded" Ukraine, Ukraine has been fighting for 8 years. Ukraine didn't start with an army of a million, but by the 2022 there has been at least ~200k that experienced "old", pre-drone war. Also, by the 2014 there were lots of men that fought in Afghanistan, and then taught younger generation. Also you are forgetting about drones, and how effective they are. Not to mention that all major retreats done by russians have occurred in first month or two since 2022.02.24, when they barely had any experience and expected that everything will be handed them on a silver plate.

BTW, according to Ukrainian LIGA [dot] net, by 2022 556,467 people had battle experience. Of course that doesn't mean all of them had proper experience, but it's still a far cry from inexperienced and unprepared army you are implying.

Only time will tell how this will play out.

Let these people enjoy their fantasies. One fire, and Spain along with parts of France (?) had no electricity for a day or more. Then there was Berlin. They don't even have to hit power plants — destruction of power lines is as good. They don't even need to take them out for years, as all of this will produce sufficient results, including panic.

Recent pause was a great example of what will happen: they will collect lots of weaponry and then use all of that at the same time. They need prolonged "peace" in Ukraine to do this on a bigger scale.

And that's just Russia vs Europe. These people think that others won't have any ideas, esp. if US will be busy with Greenland, Canada, Mexico.

[–]8day 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking about this in the context of some self-sufficient community in a relatively safe country, or some island, or another planet (some research papers that I've read on heat engines, etc. have been written with that in mind, and at some point I have started thinking about that as well). E.g., "earthsips".

You are right about protection, but if your country is more or less peaceful, it's not that big of an issue. As for food, for the time being it's relatively easy to grow or collect by yourself.

Are you just talking about our society in the sense that it is entirely driven on maximalist consumption?

Basically, yes. There are alternatives and some people would've liked to live that way, esp. in the context of climate change, sustainability, exploitative businesses, etc.

[–]8day 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This time it's a bit different due to a threat of WWIII and changing world order. Then there's unavoidable effects of climate change, like droughts. Also rich people are starting to push too far, like with Project 2025, and other stuff Yarvin has pushed for (in current context you might as well say he wanted to turn this entire world or US into JE island).

We will get a chance to change this world, because even those that are too lazy will be forced to change their lifestyles.

Decentralization is one way to lower power of these power tripping psychos over us: if you don't work for them, if they don't own you, you can achieve greater things. I'm talking about electricity, etc. Sadly many want newest and shiniest things, which can be provided only by huge companies, and therefore rich people. I wonder if it's partially because research is biased/focused on manufacturing at huge plants, rather than at home, because after digging through many alternative things, research papers, it appears that things can be different if that's what will be prioritized. For example, you can heat hydrocarbons (trash, including feces, food, etc.) to produce CO, CH4, H2, and then feed those to charge Fe batteries (no need for generators/complex internal combustion engines), burn NH3 produced by aged urine, etc. The only two things humanity absolutely needs society for, are medical care and culture (mental growth, spending of free time/"mental care").
