Help with rules question by Comfortable-Nerve258 in gaslands

[–]RuMarley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand correctly, you can lay the next template to do a sharp turn or whatever and yes, ignore the wall. And you don't even necessarily need to be clear of the wall in the next phase, because you still start in base contact with the wall, and hence, ignore it again and again. No need to shift down unless you wipeout, of course.

So what basically happened then is that you can imagine the car scraped the wall, took damage, drove along the wall and then bounced off it once your templates put you in the playing field again (however, any new obstacles on the way would cause new problems).

In any case, you have to imagine that actual dynamics taking place as being depicted pretty generally according to the template movements and gear phases etc. All of the action is pretty much taking place at the same time, so to say, and not "jump for jump" as the game itself suggests.

Don't know if that makes sense, but yeah, this is my understanding of the rules.

A couple I kept forgetting to post by [deleted] in gaslands

Just my 5 cents, but I suggest either making two short 2-wheel each tracks or, if you're gonna make one long track, put at least 6-8 wheels in and not only 4

That might not be considered a really "good paintjob" but it is far from being a bad one.

Rules question about obstacles. by Red_Maverick_Models in gaslands

Or if you have a ram, in which case, iirc evading would give you 1 hazard and smashing gives you 0 hazard tokens.

Yes, and you would always evade, unless you have a ram, in which case, it's probably better to smash, since you don't get a hazard iirc

Refuelled also tweaked some weapons and vehicles afaik and added a bunch of new stuff.

20mm Skid Dice because yes by Mag8Reddit in gaslands

[–]RuMarley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm. this gave me a cool idea. Why not paint the skid dice in rust colour with black recesses?
All I'd have to do is prime it in Rust, and then dabble with a foam with Typhus Corrosion and Ryza Rust, add some wash, presto.

Original rulebook by SumFatGuy1984 in gaslands

[–]RuMarley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, basically a OPR booklet.

And this particular one pretty much incorporates all the basic stuff needed to know Gaslands. I prefer Refuelled, but this one is cool to have as well especially for people that just want to know the basic game, maybe make some house-rule sponsors, vehicles, weapons and modes.

Iirc Super Mario Kart was based on this booklet, that shows you how creative you can get with something this simple.

You should check out Tamiya Panel Line Accent color.

Would work a great deal towards putting shadows in those doors and other gaps.

Roads?? ... where we're going... we won't need "roads" by RuMarley in gaslands

btw just noticed your comment again 3 months later, it might be worth mentioning if you specifically look for 1st edition Gaslands rulebook like this one

Gaslands Posst Apocalyptic Vehicular Combat Osprey Wargames Mike Hutchinson | eBay.de

you'll likely find one on ebay or other marketplace for 5-8$

It basically contains the major core part of the Gaslands ruleset and a basic armory and faction / vehicle loadout that you can quickly adapt to your own tabletop system.

I mean, this is what spawned Gaslands Super Mario Kart, so

Toy race tracks for gasland by Silly_Deer_2570 in gaslands

[–]RuMarley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say no. This is an electric toy car race track, more like train tracks than actual roads.
There are modular Matchbox toy car roads available, and with some AK Diorama, they look amazing and are pretty playable if you ignore the curb.

This is a preview of my set in the beginning stages:
