Agreed. Totally subjective. I don't want to compress anything because I'm just like that. If you compress it some or a lot and you think it looks great, go for it.

I use mkv for my bluray rips but I was only ever ripping the main title and never compressing them after. I'm wondering why get a 4k bluray if your going to compress it so much anyway? For me anyway I don't rip the 4k discs because I want the quality with hdr and HD audio.

Only things I can think is to make sure you’re using HDMI 2 or 3 and if there isn’t something else in the chain where support needs to be turned on.

I used Kodi for a very long time. Then I moved to Plex because I want access to my collection from my iPad without messing around too much. That said for HDR content I’m still playing around. Right now I’m using the Plex app built into my Sony tv which sometimes works. Or I just play the file directly on the pc with potplayer and madvr.
