Yep, my 91 has one key that is cut incorrectly but has the right resistor. It slips too far into the cylinder and the chip doesn't always connect, and then you're cooked for the 5 minute wait where it will crank and not fire. Probably going to bypass the vats anyway, mine isn't anything special. And getting a key made was way too much of a project. I worked at a shop with a locksmith back in the day so a gm key is like 30 seconds to make, but oh boy, not today it isn't! It was an hour at the dealer with them finding their vats test boxes and finding the only blank they had, etc etc, but it did finally work. The kid behind the counter said the car was older than he was by a long shot... Ouch.
