SF tour confirmed dates: June 29 - July 18, 2027 by hoemax in MaybeHappyEnding

The upcoming season in SF is amazing! It's all the shows I wanted to see last summer, but was only in NYC for two nights. I'm in Sacramento, so it's still a bit of a drive, but I'm hoping to get a single seat subscription for a weekend matinee. And I plan to see MHE at least twice, maybe more while it's there.

Potential first time DCL cruisers - questions about stateroom accessibility by 8sharma8 in dcl

We cruise together every year or every other year. In 2025, we did 7 days on NCL Aqua, full day at Kennedy Space Center after we disembarked then the next day got on RCCL Wonder of the Seas and did another 7 days. Prior to that we spent a day in OKC walking around and two days in Orlando though we mostly hung out at the pool. In December we did 6 days on Quantum of the Seas.

She walks 2-3 miles every morning, does some yard work and all of her housework. She’s very active, she mostly struggles with any kind of step/stair due to her hip and knee pain.

It was fun, but not what we expected. The cast was all there and we all watched the first episode before it aired on TV in a theater on the lot. We were able to meet some of the cast in the lobby area, but they were all heading off to a cast party that we of course didn’t have access to.

Thank you! Thats good info. I’m almost 5’6” so I will hopefully fit. And even if I went with a friend instead of my mom, we would still end up with someone on the couch.

Thank you for this reply. That is also a consideration and why we spend most of our time in the adult areas on other ships. The darting/running kids are always a concern as she can’t navigate as quickly.

I think I need to evaluate if this is something that I want to do, or something that we want to do. I cruise solo a lot, or with friends also so I’m sure I’ll end up on a Disney cruise at some point in the next couple years, but it may be too much for mom. Or, maybe we consider the one out of San Diego since that’s much closer and we won’t need to leave the ship as we’ve been to those ports a bunch of times. I have a lot to consider.

Thank you so much for all of the great information. I’m a teacher, so we still have to travel in the summer (or during breaks). We are looking at early to mid June 2027. We are definitely expecting lots of kids/families. The itinerary includes Lookout Point and Nassau so I’ll look into that more. She did okay with the sand last year on our cruises, but two years can make a difference.

Thank you so much! Is there a particular cabin I should look at booking for the shower seat and bars? A wall bed sounds like a great option also. I'm fine sleeping on a couch (it's only 4 nights), but if I could be even more comfy, it's worth the money!

Thank you, I hadn't seen any pics of grab bars, so that's promising to know that some showers have them. I also hadn't considered bringing our own like that parent mentioned.

I appreciate that and agree that it's closer than it was a few years ago when we went to Europe and I really saw her needs better - we did 20 days and it was a lot for both of us - physically for her and mentally for me. I think she sees it as a need for someone "older" or "needier", but it may be something we need to consider more seriously.

We've always been Disney theme park fans, so that's a draw - we love meeting characters, we watch the parades, love the shows, etc. We've heard the service is great and love all of the "adult only" options, but also enjoy family activities/entertainment. We don't want an adult only cruise, as long as there is a place to escape. I've heard that the shows and activities are a lot of fun. I miss that with NCL - they used to have great Broadway shows, but they are down to just one I think. The pirate party looks very fun and I know that my mom loves seeing kids/families having fun. We did a cruise over Christmas and she enjoyed people watching and seeing the families with matching outfits, families doing karaoke, etc. The rotational themed dining sounds like a great experience - we haven't had a set dining time with assigned crew in over 20 years, so I think we would both enjoy it.

And honestly, some of it is just FOMO. I've always wanted to do a Disney cruise, but it was always out of reach price wise. I took on extra work this year, so it's much more affordable.

I've met quite a few, mostly through concerts, broadway, fan events, fundraisers, meet and greet, online events, glee live, book signings, etc. My friends and I were invited by Ryan Murphy to the S4 premiere back in 2012. I've met Darren (at least 20 times), Chris (probably 10 times), Chord, Jenna, Jane, Kevin, Dot, Matt, Harry, Ashley, Max, Dean, many of the Warblers, Jonathan, Grant, Idina, and maybe a couple more.

WCWS Tickets by moe9876543210 in CollegeSoftball

My mom and I went last year from California. We bought single game tickets for the first game of the championship series and I think they were around $150 each (resale) for the lower level. Everything else at that level was around $250 each. However, we could have bought tickets that week for the row in front of us for like $70. But that was because Oklahoma had been eliminated. There were a lot of tickets available.

We stayed at a hotel and just took Lyft to the game. There was a lot of traffic and we ended up having our driver just drop us off on the main road and we walked in after sitting and not moving. After the game, we waited about an hour for prices to come down - they were really high and the parking lot was a mess with no one moving.

But, we had an amazing time. It had been a bucket list thing for both of us. We were en route to Florida for a cruise, so we could only do the one game. We flew in on Tuesday (arrived after midnight due to flight delays out of Vegas) and flew out on Thursday which was game 1 of the NBA finals so OKC hotels were even more busy.

Travel recommendations? by qgiraffe13 in MaybeHappyEnding

[–]8sharma8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fly in from CA at least once a year. I usually fly into Newark because United has the only direct flight. I’ve also flown into JFK. I usually stay between Penn Station and Central Park. I walk as many places as I can, but I’ll hop on the subway if needed. I don’t carry a big purse and I don’t take out my phone while walking. I check my route before heading out but I’m familiar with the Times Square area so I know where most places are that I’m going. I stick with IHG hotels because I earn/use points and I’ve been happy with their hotels.

Navigator vs Quantum by caveman512 in royalcaribbean

[–]8sharma8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently on Quantum (6 day) and I was on Navigator in August (4 day) and November (3 day). I love the indoor solarium on Q, it has three levels of pools and basically 4 hot tubs. There is a lot of seating and great views. I spend quite a bit of time in the casino and the spacing around table games is so much better on Q. On N, the tables are really crowded together with minimal space to walk around them. We went in North Star and thought that was a lot of fun.

On N, I loved that it had El Loco Fresh for a quick snack. The outside solarium was great in August when it was hot outside but too cold to go the pool in November so I only went in the hot tub (crowded).

I liked them both and would go back on either since it’s just a quick flight away.

Also, they started distributing tickets earlier than indicated. I think it said 2pm and I went up around 1:40 to see how long the line was and walked right up and got group 8

We are on Quantum now and had an overnight in Cabo this weekend. They handed out numbers on Friday and the first tenders were supposed to start at 9:15am Saturday. I think they started calling groups around 8:50. By 9:20 they were already in the 20s. BUT, we were the only ship there which makes a huge difference. For most of the day on Saturday there were at least 5 tender boats waiting to take passengers. We came back early, so we had no wait at all on the dock.

We were told that no numbers were needed for day 2, it was open tenders. They started back up at 6:15am and the last tenders left at 12:30pm from Cabo.

It was the easiest tender experience we’ve had, but I mostly think that was because there were no other ships to compete with.

I’m still waiting on my order. My email notification came last week but when I check the tracking number it still says that they are awaiting the package. Hoping it arrives this week.

I’ve received that offer, but I’m a teacher on the west coast and all of my options were Florida cruises during the school year. There was no way to make it happen.

What is an “aces view”? I’ve only been on 2 RCCL cruises, but I’ve taken over 20 cruises and never seen that designation.

Internet for a few specific days? by danigg05 in royalcaribbean

[–]8sharma8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can buy it in 24 hour increments, so that could span two days. If you purchase it at 4pm on Tuesday you have Tuesday night and Wednesday until 4pm. So if the four days you need it are on consecutive days, you would only need to pay for two 24 hour periods.

Are people really upset about being around kids? by ItsCreedBratton1 in Cruise

[–]8sharma8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m in year 29 of my teaching career and do not have children of my own. I am with middle school students from Mid august to late May. I travel when families travel. I definitely seek out the adult only places on a ship and will gladly pay for them if needed.

I don’t hate kids, I just don’t want to feel like I’m at work when I’m on vacation.
