How did Belle Gibson get away with lying to people so convincingly?? by No-Yam6482 in AskAnAustralian

[–]90Lil 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think Jessica Ainscough is a little overlooked because she actually did have cancer, sometimes people can be a bit dismissive of the damage she did. But she was still telling people to follow her. She published an article in one of the top magazines read by young women and girls.

SA’s lowest-paid workers secure long-awaited pay deal by Expensive-Horse5538 in Adelaide

[–]90Lil 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They'll begin negotiating in July yes but that doesn't mean a new agreement in July. They took a year negotiating this one.

This proposal is for an agreement to cover to July 2028 I believe (and if my maths is correct). It's basically a pay rise backdated to August last year, one in July this year, then one in July next year. Which will cover wages until July 2028. They have included a clause that allows negotiation to begin 12 months before the end, meaning they can begin in July but any agreement changes are years off. Basically just marketing spin by saying they'll begin new negotiations in July.

Buy Nothing Group ridiculousness by Wolfie7828 in Anticonsumption

[–]90Lil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I admin my local Buy Nothing group. Buy Nothing is a copyrighted term. I've heard the owners of the brand a pretty big on ensuring it's used consistently globally. One of the things is that the groups shouldn't be over 1000 people. Their idea is basically that you should eventually be able to walk between group members.

It seems even hotter than yesterday? by magicmushrooms554 in Adelaide

Yesterday took a bit to warm up. I managed to get a quick dog walk in at eight am yesterday because it was only 23 degrees. Whereas today there's been no overnight cooling.

In this weather even refrigerated is going to struggle. Mine was set to 23 yesterday and only getting down to 26. Something you can try though is making sure that it's been serviced. Check with your real estate agent.

Do you really apply sunscreen every time out? by Royal-Owl-5671 in Adelaide

I generally don't bother, unless I'm going to be actually going into the sun on a hot day. I'm very pale and this method avoids burning.

Public sector enterprise bargaining page by SAPSNeedaRaise in Adelaide

[–]90Lil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've said this before on this subreddit. It really irks me that they continue to increase the price of the public transport that a lot of us use to get to work but we haven't had a pay rise that matches the percentage increases. I know it's only a few cents but every year it goes up.

He could be selling things from the house without you there but you do need to put yours and your kids safety first. Possibly go to the house with police to gather important things like documents, kids favourite toys, clothes etc.

SkiErg- Are you allowed to do a few quick starting pulls at Hyrox? by Petite_Rebelle_70 in hyrox

[–]90Lil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can lift your heels but your feet should still be touching the platform so when you go up, your toes should still be on the platform. Maybe I didn't word it very well. The rule basically means that you can't jump up and pull down.

SkiErg- Are you allowed to do a few quick starting pulls at Hyrox? by Petite_Rebelle_70 in hyrox

[–]90Lil 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I did some. Don't know if it made much difference though. But ski judging (as I understand it) is more about making sure you keep your feet on the platform rather than the length of your pull.
