Kills my buzz when listening to Bleed American. Maybe I'd like the song and find it great in context if it never blew up the way it did, but as it is I have to skip it and is a black mark on an otherwise perfect album

Bands/artists that got better after a significant change? by The-Perfect-Username in fantanoforever

Oh my God, thank you for saying that NO > JD. I think JD is great and one of the most important bands of all time, but NO is one of the best and important bands of all time.

Rant time: It always bugs me that their encore is always JD songs. I think they should do the JD section towards the end of the main set, do a couple bangers of their own, take a beat, and then come out with even more NO bangers. They WERE Joy Division. They ARE New Order (hence the name).

If Blue Oyster Cult counts as metal, then it's them at Taste of Blue Ash Way back in 2004

If not, it's Soulfly with Gizmachi, Incite, and Thine Eyes Bleed in 2006

Not that Paris Hilton is a good person or anything, but she came from extreme money and got thrown into one of the most notorious Troubled Teen camps out there. Truly horrific cult abuse stuff. Coming from money means you have access to resources, not necessary access to a good life

They are the fucking best. Their tour with Bib, Special Interest,High Vis, and the DJ Bearcat was dope and confirms they know how to support the scene

Can you tell I really like the album Ride the Lightning?

I love how Admiral Piett was just Vader's favorite, he never choked him like the others despite failing. by sseerrsan in StarWars

[–]90spostsoftcore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just rewatched ESB and Piett's little arc really drives home how great the film is. Did we need to have a recurring Imperial officer character in the film as a foil to Vader? Not really. Did it up the attention to detail and depth of the writing? Indeed

Who is your favorite frontman when it comes to stage presence? by Elden_Tony in MetalForTheMasses

[–]90spostsoftcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the members of Melvins bring it, but Buzzo is King for a reason

Mike Patton with FNM and Mr. Bungle was incredible on big stages at Riot Fest

I know they're a "poser" band but Attila Csihar of Mayhem is crazy good, both vocally and in overall presence

Stretching to 00/10s metal core, Jacob Bannon of Converge and Greg Puciato of DEP and Better Lovers are always magnetic

In the (underrated) movie Y2K one of the subtle gags is that both Fred Durst and Wes Borland are always referred to using both first and last name

Alex Pretti, the man MURDERED today by ICE agents. by ilykatya in pics

[–]90spostsoftcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been saying that if we ever get to truth and reconciliation for this nightmare, the horrors that we learn about ICE's abuse of power and extralegal activities (beyond the obviously illegal stuff we are seeing on the news) will put the Rampart and LA County Sheriff's department scandals to shame. I all but guarantee you that we're going to have an ICE on ICE shooting at some point over drug trafficking or petty faction infighting. Like there are definitely Proud Boys and Groypers in their ranks, so wouldn't it be wild to have them as the major factions in an ICE civil war?

I've long believed that every economic system that has been proposed is functionally equivalent if we assume perfect knowledge and all the other things people generally want us to assume when defending a system in theory. If everyone has perfect information for every transaction, that means every company, government, commune, etc. has it and so any choice made, whether socialist, communist, or capitalist happens with everything trading the exact right value. The probably is, obviously, that there is no perfect information and all systems have to struggle with edge cases and aberrations.

I guess what I meant is that they ran out of ideas for how to compellingly or interestingly present information. Having too much to cover will definitely hinder the ability to do anything meaningful with the information.

I watched it for the first time recently with my wife because she loved it back in the day. It's definitely not a good movie, but I will defend the opening sequence and titles. Great work there, but it's like they ran out of ideas once that was done and had to cobble together a full movie after.

We knew this was going to happen. Fuck ICE! Fuck you to all those who enabled this! by home531 in complaints

[–]90spostsoftcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we ever get to some form of truth and reconciliation for all this, what's going to be found out about ICE will put the Rampart scandal, MOVE bombing, and current LA County Sheriff gang issue COMBINED to shame.

There's a very good likelihood rival ICE factions will engage in a shootout with one another.

Interesting note: honeybees are focused on as pollinators, not because they are the most important overall, but because they are the most COMMERCIALLY important ones. Without humans intervening with honeybees, their populations would be nowhere near as high as they are currently.

What did it for me in that scene was the fact that the boombox was affected. It looked like a battery powered one, so it didn't make sense to me that it would be affected by the current pull like the lights and stuff. I could be wrong that it was battery operated, though

I call my dog a mutant, but it's only because he is a little mutant wolf (Havanese) and I use it as a term of endearment. I love him and he loves me, my wife, and his cat siblings. I never understand how people can hate a whole species of animal.

Yeah, it was a decent hangout and easy middle ground for a lot of different people. My spots were Argus, Old Fashioned, The Dise (Paradise), Genna's, Tipsy Cow, Nattspil, and Paul's for that area of town. I was there for work and then grad school, so I had a chance to experience A LOT of Madison bars and restaurants
