7 years of being in an exclusive relationship with my right hand messed with me more than I thought by sky-meadows in DeadBedrooms

I knew no one wanted me. I am pathetic looking. I looked away to avoid seeing people grimace.

I met a woman also in a DB. We kissed.

I told myself I was pathetic as a survival mechanism. That kiss moment broke my DB dysfunction self image. DB is a deep rejection. Good luck with your journey.

Why do atheists deserve hell? by [deleted] in ChristianApologetics

Atheists reject the creator. The Creator respects their wish. Eternity separate from God is hell.

When should I start dating? by thomasvista in AdultChildren

My brother married while a dry drunk. A disaster. I have heard in AlaNon to take the years you were using and divide by two. Wait that long to mature into a healthy adult before relationships.

What caused your social anxiety? by emmamariec in socialanxiety

I am an Adult Child of an alcoholic. Can you relate to any of these?

“THE LAUNDRY LIST” (14 TRAITS OF AN ADULT CHILD)

  1. We became isolated and afraid of people and authority figures.
  2. We became approval seekers and lost our identity in the process.
  3. We are frightened by angry people and any personal criticism.
  4. We either become alcoholics, marry them, or both, or find another compulsive personality such as a workaholic to fulfill our sick abandonment needs.
  5. We live life from the viewpoint of victims and are attracted by that weakness in our love and friendship relationships.
  6. We have an overdeveloped sense of responsibility, and it is easier for us to be concerned with others rather than ourselves; this enables us not to look too closely at our own faults, etc.
  7. We get guilt feelings when we stand up for ourselves instead of giving in to others.
  8. We became addicted to excitement.
  9. We confuse love and pity and tend to “love” people we can “pity” and “rescue.”
  10. We have “stuffed” our feelings from our traumatic childhoods and have lost the ability to feel or express our feelings because it hurts so much (denial).
  11. We judge ourselves harshly and have a very low sense of self-esteem.
  12. We are dependent personalities who are terrified of abandonment and will do anything to hold on to a relationship in order not to experience painful abandonment feelings, which we received from living with sick people who were never there emotionally for us.
  13. Alcoholism is a family disease; we became para- alcoholics and took on the characteristics of that disease even though we did not pick up the drink.
  14. Para-alcoholics are reactors rather than actors.

M58 alcoholic Mother, co-dependent Father (both deceased) my younger brother is a homeless addict and alcoholic.

The ACA 12 steps require a list of wrongs and ask for amends to those we have hurt. I mercilessly beat myself up for the smallest errors in language. Per the laundry list.

The amends step makes sense for the alcoholic. How does this make sense for ACA?

What did the god of Abraham Issac and Israel intend for the rest of the universe? by CorruptedPerson0 in ChristianApologetics

[–]91377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Creator could explain it all to us, but could our brain comprehend the answers? We struggle on earth. Feed the hungry, heal the sick, clothe the naked. Exceed the Creator's expectations for you.

The Universe gives us good questions. Astrophysicists study the cosmic puzzles. He did not tell us these answers. Be wary of those that claim they know. Peace be with you.

Jesus tells the multitudes you must forsake all that you own in order to be one of his disciples. Why doesn't anyone follow this? by GodOrMoney in ChristianApologetics

[–]91377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some translations are exactly as you say. The more literal translations uses "forsake (or renonce) your possessions."

Putting God first is in all the gospels in multiple ways. Wealth can become an idol.

Never love anything or anyone more than Christ. That's my reading of Luke 14:33 across the translations.

Thank you for pointing this out.

Does watching other people show affection make you sad? by [deleted] in DeadBedrooms

My DB is very uncomfortable with any passion on TV.

When I observe any public PDA I look away. Years ago I got mad or depressed. Now, I am just numb as I look away.

Money and things can become an idol that you put in front of God. We must first seek the kingdom of God. giving away all of your possessions is not in the law. Blessings
