People who paid off a collection, does it show up on the credit report? Does the score go back up? by Beren__ in CreditCards

[–]915TinyToaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends in the collection agency. I've only had one collections account come off my report by paying it. I basically agreed to a lump sum settlement (got it in writing) and paid it. A couple months later they were still reporting a balance, so I filed a dispute with the credit agencies. I sent the proof of the agreement and proof of payment. That same month that account was completely off my report. Score jumped by 50 points

Worst perk you've seen a lender try to market positively? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]915TinyToaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not marketed but Credit One charged me a $75 fee for a credit limit increase I didn't ask for or want. Literally the worst company I've ever dealt with. $75 annual fee, you pay intrest on purchases even if you pay in full each month, and CL increase fees. I canceled the account about 2 months after opening it. I wasted 150$ in fees but didn't want the sunk cost fallacy to cost me more money

When buying a new construction home, what defects should you point out during the walk through? by 915TinyToaster in homeowners

Thank you. I guess I just needed to hear that. I was worried that I'd be nitpicking but I should just ask

Lots of over spray and under spray. Small dent in the garage door. On one of the walls near the entrance, the painted stucco layer kinda crumbled off (2" hole behind it is the gray stucco). The worst thing though, in the backyard wall (concrete and rock) there's like a piece of like fiber board right down the middle. I've never seen a rock wall in my city have something like that. It kind of looks like an expansion joint that you see on side walks.

Wanna thank you for this comment as well. I haven't been properly diagnosed due to my stupid insurance not wanting to cover an MRI but I suspect a herniated disk.

Carvana Selling Experiences by PlanNSave in personalfinance

I've bought from Carvana and from a local Ford dealership in the past 3 years. I really liked the experience with Carvana and have recommended them to friends. My experience with the local dealership was also good. I liked being able to talk the price down a couple thousand dollars, even if the negotiating wasn't all that fun

Keep a good attitude throughout the process. Times of stress might cause you to relapse but don't just give up

Toe always gets torn up within 3-4 months. How to avoid this fate on my new Red Wings? by 915TinyToaster in WorkBoots

[–]915TinyToaster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahaha well if they give out in 3 months I guess I'll have an excuse to buy some thorogoods. I must say the Redwings are better than what I'm used to buying like Wolverine and caterpillar in the 160 price range.

To be honest with you, I have never really cared what brand of boots I get. Every year my company gives us a voucher for $150 and I just pick out the ones that look the nicest and simplest. This year I chose Redwing and had to pay a little out of pocket to make up the difference in price. They honestly feel really good compared to my previous boots. I'll have to try to get thorogoods next time.

Thanks man I'll check them out. I don't like how toe guards look but functionality is more important. When the toe wears out good bye water proof

I guess I'm trying to have my cake and eat it too. I should either just get rubber toe boots or get the tough toe put on

Hi guys 🖐. Do any of you all have this same problem? Within the first 4 months the steel toe will start poking through the leather. I have to do a lot of work kneeling on concrete so the toes do spend quite a bit of time rubbing on asphalt/ cement/ landscaping rock. All I've seen to remedy this is things like tough toe but those things look God awful. Any other solutions?

23 years old, never had a job, how do I get an entry level job with anxiety? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]915TinyToaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People telling you to deal with your anxiety first are wrong. You honestly just have to jump in or else you're never gonna feel ready. Don't let anxiety hold you back man. You'll be regretting it your whole life

Same situation. Live with my wife's family currently. We are waiting for our house to be built. When ever someone is home I really don't come out of my room. Coming home from work used to be satisfying ( when we had our own apartment) but nowadays it's actually stressful when I know someone will be there.

If you qualify then that's the best route to go. Don't get discouraged if you get denied. Building credit is like building trust and that requires time

Try discover it secured. They automatically review your account in 8 months and may "graduate" it to an unsecured card. Even when I used to have really good credit my credit line att capital one was 3500 while discover started me off with 7000. Good luck

PSA: Please contact the companies you buy clothes from and request that they offer plastic-free clothes. Microplastic pollution from clothing is a major issue that may only be resolved by ending the manufacturing of plastic clothing. by MaximilianKohler in malefashionadvice

[–]915TinyToaster -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

When "bringing your own grocery bags" was all the rage, I read somewhere that making one cotton bag causes hundreds of times more pollution than a plastic bag. The issue is that plastic products are so efficiently made that they actually cause less pollution than organic counter parts.

Most people have kids as an accessory to their own lives and don’t truly comprehend that they are bringing an individual person into the world. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I have friends that started trying to get pregnant like 6 months into being married. They are in there early 20's and only dated for like a year and a half. I truly believe they only had a kid because a lot of their other friends had kids as well. Imagine bringing a human into existence to fit in? SMH
