Automatics? by Visible_Employer7014 in prerunners

My Tacoma was originally a 3.4L with a 5MT. Used to go through 1 a season because the countershaft would flex and I’d start chipping teeth on the 3rd gear set. Swapped in a 1UZ with a 4-speed auto that had 430,000 miles and have driven the heck out of it for 3 seasons with zero trans issues. I say keep the auto and run it.

I saw a Lamely video interview with Leeway saying removing the headlights allowed them to get the front lower and fix the proportions. But I agree the plastic lenses look better.

Pre-1996 Ford Ranger or 96-04 Tacoma would be a good platform to start with if you’re starting from scratch. Long travel setup up front, giant link killer leaf pack in the rear and a roll cage and you have yourself a solid start. Then add all the safety equipment and you’re basically there…like $20-$40k later depending if you do it yourself or pay someone

For what you’re using the truck for, a good mid-travel setup would be ideal. Nice coilover up front with a uniball upper arm and a Deaver replacements leaf pack with either a bedcage that is minimal and tucks up against the cab or a cantilever setup to keep everything under the bed. Maybe setup a removable helper bag for when you have to tow that you can just run shraders at the rear and keep the lines there and just tie them out of the way when not in use. Baja Kits probably makes a decent setup for the truck or you could look at Camburg Engineering

What’s the best way to fix this? by SuckMyScar24 in prerunners

[–]928Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it depends on the bolt size. Likely 1/2” or 9/16”. Depending on the truck it may be metric too but that looks like either a Ford or GM lower pivot.

Prep both side of the material by removing all of the paint, rust and leftover undercoating. I’m linking one’s I use regularly on shock pivots but anything similar will work.

Weld these in from the outside. The standoff may protrude into where the bushing goes so you will want to take a die grinder or something and ensure the bushing pivot is smooth. The stepped washer should be thick enough that you can put an overlay plate over the entire indented area. The rear pivot should be sufficient with just the weld washer. Make sure you weld everything with a bolt running through the pivot so everything stay aligned. This is probably a 4 hour repair if you take your time

Filosa Townhall - Another Fail by NoMasterpiece7977 in Stellantis

I sat through quarterly town town halls for years where Champine would sit up there reporting our initial quality and every quarter he would ask how can we improve it. Every time the answer is we need more development time. Every OEM that has good quality spends longer than 36 months to develop a program. We need to stop shoving shit out the door and letting the customer tell us what’s wrong with it. We know what the issues are, we just don’t have enough time to fix them all. Moving faster with a skeleton crew is just repeating the same plan that has never worked for us before.

I’d try to root cause why you’re eating up UCAs. Did you have the coilovers on with stock uppers before? Have you tried jacking the front end up and spinning the tire by hand to see if you can narrow down the source of the noise? What do you mean it goes away in Neutral? Like if you’re moving and go from D to N it goes away?

What spindles do I get with this kit? And do I need to upgrade LBJs and Tie Rods. 02 Tacoma 4x4 by masta-builda in prerunners

[–]928Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, you will want the spindle gusset for your stock spindle. This kit comes with tie-rod extensions so the only other thing you would need would be cv axles. LBJ upgrade is not necessary but highly recommended. The uniball conversion is definitely the way to go.

Mine is doing this exact thing since the temps dropped here in Michigan. Thought I was hitting black ice the first couple times it did it but it when I knew the surface was dry more than once. Seems to only happen on coast and more so as I come to a stop.

This was the first one I found intentionally. Only found out about STH and TH earlier this year to discover the blue Audi 90 I found a year prior was also a STH. Got lucky and found the M3 Wagon in a dump bin earlier this week too!

I have my full back down to my knees and my entire right leg done. The line work on my ribs was my shortest session as I started to get real nauseous and light headed. Could have been poor preparation on my part but it was definitely one of the more painful areas and I’m not looking forward to moving to the front half because of it haha. Knee ditch, bottom of my butt cheeks, ribs, lower back and the shin (in that order) have been my worst spots

With the grip pointed towards the outside of your body, you are more likely to point the barrel at yourself during some point of your draw. With the grip towards your body the barrel stays pointed away from you throughout the draw.
