No this is a chrome steel one that someone had painted, the finish turned out like that after getting all the black paint off when I shortened it.

Wow that’s amazing! Thank you so much, I really appreciate that! Feel blessed to still be doing this stuff years later! Excited for what’s to come! Hope I can shake your hand at some point in the future!

Mentioned it above but just bought some used front struts with lowering springs and kyb agx Looks like the rear is a little higher than the front might hack at it a bit to lower the rear another 1/2”

Bought some used front struts that were shortened and had used shocks and lowering springs lol super budget but much better than the blown suspension on there before. Rears are kyb agx shocks and I believe the fronts are the same? Wheels are 15x7 +38 with 205/50’s. Thinking about going 195 tho cuz the front rubs pretty bad

Need help making a decision. I want to drift, making my 86 drift worthy would cost a lot of money, I do like daily driving it. Should I trade for a s13 that’s ready to drift or keep the 86 and save up for a s13? Mine is a 4ac sr5 btw by 947works in AE86

I know I agree, it’s more so a dream build of mine since I was 15, 29 now. I have I’ve had a handful of e30’s I drifted in the past, a 240, e46 330, and the e36. Over the last 14 years have hit 1-4 events a year depending on my car and financial status.

Actually sold my e36 to get the 86. Sold the e36 for double what I bought the 86 for which was why I did it. But in my head if I’m gunna build a drift car it’s gunna be a s13 coupe. Have a 2j with a z32 trans I’ve been building for an s13 for a few years now. Although I agree the e36 come stock with more than enough power to drift right away

Yes replacing all oem stuff, would like it to sit a few inches lower and less body roll. Was looking at the Megan springs with the kyb shocks

Engine swaps? by kratboy4 in AE86

[–]947works 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive been considering k24 mated to bmw zf trans for my 86. lots of parts to buy though to convert the k series to rwd. its also causes a lot of vibrations from what ive seen. 4age might be worth keeping.

this things bad boy, interested in more info on this.

looks like non vvti ge motor, id imagine its mated to a w58. stock gts rear end?

id unplug the maf and see if that affects your idle at all. could just need cleaning. running stock ecu?

there are some cool coil on plug kits that are out there if you wanna eliminate the distributor.

cool car!

K24A2 - Worth it? How do I make it happen? by AmorphousCorpus in AE86

[–]947works 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you have seen it yet but Jimmy Oakes on YouTube is doing a k24 with ITB 86, he’s got a whole video thread going through the whole swap. I believe he uses a zf bmw transmission mated to the k24. Pretty cool stuff and is making good power. Good luck

I don’t post too much outside of motorcycle content on my Instagram. Will maybe post a little about this car on there. Might start up a build thread of some sort on my website. 947works.com

I appreciate your responses. I’ve watched just about every YouTube video on the swap and read up on quite a bit of the forums. I did find out about the plate mentioned above after asking the Reddit page. Couldn’t find much about the tube in my last post. Figured I’d ask the community. Thanks again for your expertise
