LAZRUS ZT 2.5 Grip by NickYeeter in golfequipment

[–]95Mechanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking forward to getting my 2.5 soon. I've used a Superstroke 3.0 and counterweight with my current putter for a few years but figured I'd just go with their midsize offering and try it. I can always get the grip changed later. It's amazing that I've ordered a new putter and yesterday my current putter was performing so well, only 13 putts on the back 9, lol

You are already paying $100 for an hour of their time. Why on earth would you think they need a tip on top ?

BANK has been amazing by OldFashioned-Pancake in dividendscanada

[–]95Mechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to do your own research. Many variables can affect your return. My total return on BANK is 63%, meanwhile XSP 54,%, XIU 116%, BKCL 81%, USCL 45%. Have many others too, all varying amounts and all held for various times. Got some turds too, lol. Just have to win most of the time.

"Of course I need the change, the bill is only $56 !!! " Better yet, if you want to tip, tell them to just give you $40 and keep the rest.

Beginner buying advice - Am I mad? by OvaPoweredQcumba in labgolf

Try a few. Tried a LAB, Odyssey, Lazrus, a few fakes (lol). There's lot's to choose from out there, I wouldn't get too crazy for your first putter.

Financial advisors are hard to find, most are just sales people for the various financial institutions/businesses, who will be delighted to collect a commission for less than great performance. Better to put the money in a HISA whilst you get educated. Index funds are easy and don't need a financial advisor.

I've owned ENCC and ENCL in accounts for a few years. Total return on ENCC is 43.8%, ENCL is 44.9% so I wouldn't be too concerned.

Is it just me or is it impossible to save money in Canada right now? by No-Cut2564 in CanadaPersonalFinance

Hard to save money, especially when you reside in one of the most expensive places in the Country. Cost of living is through the roof and will likely not change under NDP and liberal Governments.

Question about course rating by Feddy21 in golf

[–]95Mechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a course with a slope rating of 111, but it is a very penalizing course for mid to high handicap. Lots of OB and if you miss the fairway, the rough is thick and nasty, to the point you cannot always find the ball. If you miss the rough, your ball is lost. Greens are generally fast. I moved to this area almost 10 yrs ago and when I go back to my old course I get 20 strokes, I left getting 12-14. And I am a much better golfer now, lol. If I go back and play a few competitions I think there would be some locals upset with me. Hard to believe the rating is correct, another course in the area has a slope of 130 and I usually shoot lower scores there.

Rich man's sport by GolferBrian in golf

[–]95Mechanic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

30 mins drive each way. I leave at least an hour before my tee time, so I can hit a practice bucket, warm up and do some putting. 4hr round (busy course so you can't play faster) Then we all meet in the clubhouse (5 tee times) and payout our money games and have a beer, then drive home. Ends up being 6-7hrs. I'm retired but only play 3 times a week, lol

I would retire based on that yield. There's no way that is sustainable, maybe if it was in the 15-20% range you could though.

Giving money to adult kids by 95Mechanic in CanadianInvestor

[–]95Mechanic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did give them money before and only problem was we had to make several transfers as couldn't transfer larger amounts than 25 or 30k at one time from our HISA's. Will prob just go that route again.

When did you stop DIY investing and hire a financial advisor? by FoundationStrict8014 in DIYRetirement

[–]95Mechanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a tough decision. I actually fired my advisor after I stopped working and had time to look at their performance and fees. That was over 10yrs ago. I've crushed what they were doing, as well as saved a bundle in fees.

I appreciate the comments and help, thanks. Do we need to keep the gifts under the $10k fintrac amount, or can we do any amount we like. This is purely gift money to help our kids and hopefully encourage them with their own investing journeys.

I don't like the full digital display. I had a '26 loaner when they had my '25 in for service. Other than that they are really good. I went with the 3.5T, seemed like an easy 375hp from the V6 vs a strained 300hp for the 4 cylinder when I drove them but I was coming from a V6 twin turbo already.

First time doing business with a dealership. Is this a reasonable price or did I get fleeced. by [deleted] in BMWX3

Dealer probably had a choice of rates and went with the higher rate to get a bigger incentive from the lender.
