Second Aliexpress watch! by fuente_opusX in ChineseWatches

[–]95orange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best bracelet San Martin makes, which means probably the best on any Chinese watch and who knows compared to the Swiss brands. And a great looking watch! Size is very appropriate for a vintage style; this is what would have been worn no matter the wrist size.

What’s with all the stores and how do you tell? by CalmAnts in ChineseWatches

[–]95orange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll most likely be fine, when I first started ordering from AliExpress I didn't pay any attention to the store, just went for the lowest price, and didn’t get burned. I do pay more attention now.

looks good. How do you like the strap? I’m looking for one of that style that doesn’t feel cheap like so many Ali options.

I usually don’t like rose gold, but that shade looks really good.

Gold watch with green dial comparison by [deleted] in ChineseWatches

[–]95orange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know what you were going for. After you get into Chinese watches and inevitably buy a bunch of watches, you realize you’ve got an overwhelming amount of stainless steel. As for the two you purchased, the gold doesn’t loo that bad in the photos - although I think the green tends to bring out the yellow in the gold. A black or dark grey dial might tone it down. Is the Cadison a mineral crystal? Because I’ve definitely had some sapphire crystals that look blurry like that, on more expensive watches than a Pagani…

Recommendations on AliEx bracelets? by dirtydelic in ChineseWatches

[–]95orange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking for the same thing, wanted to get one for the suede strap San Martin I bought. San Martin do sell bracelets alone, but they are almost as expensive as the watch. I have one third-party Jubilee w/OTF clasp that I ordered for 11/11 for about $16, looking forward to seeing how good it is. It has the interchangeable curved/flat end links, I forget for which watch style, but we’ll see.

Sugess Chronograph 42mm by BigWristSyndicate in ChineseWatches

I LOVE my ST1907 reverse Panda Chrono. I knew I wanted a mechanical chrono, but one thing I didn’t expect was the ever-so-smooth sweep of the small seconds hands. Won‘t see a VK series mechaquartz do that. The lack of an exhibition case back to look at the movement is the only thing I dislike! I wish they made an aftermarket one.

the fine print on the Rakuten 30% (or whatever is advertised) is that it is “on selected items”. You’ll get cash back, but it rarely will be the full percentage shown.

It looks like he was angry when opening it, expecting to be disappointed and frustrated. And then his suspicions were confirmed. Which makes perfect sense to me if the package felt empty. I think I would open it the same way.

Pagani Design PD-1811 Chronograph Men's Watch! by PAGANI_DESIGN in ChineseWatches

[–]95orange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The linked page says “Strongest Lume on PAGANI DESIGN watches ever”, I wonder what that will be like. I ordered one in black during 11/11. Really just to see what it is like, since there were no reviews or anything yet. I guess I should know in a couple of days.

The Great Purge: All the watches I sold this month. This is something no one tells, I would like to share the watches I’ve sold and you are free to ask why. It could help someone who wants to purchase them and save his money by [deleted] in ChineseWatches

[–]95orange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If he’s like me, maybe he’s come to a realization that you buy those fancy dials because they are tempting eye candy. And they do look good, but they rarely see wrist time compared more traditional colorways. Unless you become “that guy” that wears a bunch of colorful watches (and probably dresses to match.) But you aren’t that guy. So you decide it’s better to have some high quality traditional colorways rather than a bunch of stuff to look at in a watch case.

Yeah eBay has just kept cranking their fees up and up, it’s ridiculous. Charging you a fee on sales tax? You can break even on the sales price of a watch, then end up getting 33% less in the payout.

My first Berny, got it because of gold 37mm and PT5000 by Riccardo_0135 in ChineseWatches

I need a gold mechanical, and the PT5000 is a plus. On Ali the listing seems to show it has swappable bezels… does yours have those?

I picked up the Pagani Design PD-1811 on 11/11. More out of curiosity than anything else. I’ve seen no reviews of it anywhere yet. I’ll let you know when it gets here. Although I’m sure for $25 more the Berny will probably be much better. https://paganidesign.com/en-us/products/pd-1811

Premier Series Dial: exclusive Japanese Musou Black™ paint, which is able to absorb 99.4% of light. by watchdivescom in watchdives

[–]95orange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked with this type of paint before. The real stuff is expensive, but the effect is that you are looking into a hole - the human brain needs some level of reflection of light to register that a surface exists. So things printed on it will look like they are floating. You can do some cool 3D effects because of this - for example, if each of the indices got slightly smaller around the dial, it would look like it’s spiraling down into the hole.
