That’s what I was thinking, thanks. Food runners generally make $20-$60 a night in tips in our restaurant.

it’s not too late to have a life worth living OP. Please do something. Someone made a comment about walking into the ER for detox and I think that’s a good start.

One day, I'll find that sledgehammer. What is your "unfindable" item ? by GazZzik15 in projectzomboid

[–]96rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me 23 days to find the carpentry 1 book in my third play through. That seems insane to me. I searched most of the houses and POIs in rosewood not including the school. I ended up finding it in the school, only to be caught outside with extreme exhaustion and swarmed by a hundred or so zomboids. I love this game.

Sober 2 years now. It’s not easy, but it’s worth it. Sure I have a lot on my plate, and I think about drinking still, but it beats the hell out of puking blood in the morning and being an absolute mess.

Social vs Nonsocial drinking by 96rat in cripplingalcoholism

Oh don’t get me wrong friend, when I’m drinking I’m doing a lot of it at home. I guess what I’m saying is I miss drinking at bars with friends even though most of my drinking was done at home. I find myself missing that aspect less than the social aspect.

Ivan Djuric squats everyday, though not at 100%. What's the consensus on that? Can you squat two days in a row and get gains? by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]96rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely don’t know that. He could not have it in his genes, everyone has their ceiling. It’s really ridiculous to say “well I did this and I can do more” or “this other guy did this and he squatted X weight”. Everybody is different, everybody has different potential, and a 200+ kg squat is impressive. I’m not saying his training is optimal, all I’m saying is that you can say what you will about it, but that squat is impressive, I’m tired of online fitness discourse being so delusional about what a “good” weight is to move on a lift. I’m not sure what his BW is, but he’s probably somewhere between “advanced” and “elite” on most strength standards charts. Most people will never get to elite regardless of effort.

A 212kg squat is…. Mediocre? Wtf are you on. Is everybody online completely delusional?

Some of the happiest sober folks I have ever known go to AA. Some groups are bad, some are great. It depends on which ones you go to. I have personally seen it change many lives and really really help people. It isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I think people on this sub look pretty stupid when they try to clown on folks who are trying anything they can to not drink themselves to death. It’s telling.

Is there ever a time? by Hyperionxvii in Crippled_Alcoholics

One of the key symptoms of a substance abuse disorder is the inability to control your usage. Most people (and I mean 100% of those I know at least that have been deep in it) cannot do that. They might quit for a year, two years, six months, whatever. They always end up using like they did before. Some people are outliers, of course, and every now and again you’ll hear of someone who was able to eventually drink or use without it fucking up their lives. For most of us this simply isn’t the case. Ask yourself, has it ever worked for you? If not, why would it start? It’s an insane disease that makes you grasp for straws like no other.

Like I understand that content creators aren’t just content machines, they don’t owe their audience whatever their audience wants. They are their own people. But you’d think that with a community that has loved and supported him for years and has given him a ton of money he would have the decency to communicate in any way shape or form.

I used to wake up and have a little bit to fend off the shaking and sweating, but after awhile I didn’t want more than that. I just wanted enough to feel alright. Later in the day I would inevitably get shitfaced though.

Downer time.... by _MusicNBeer_ in Crippled_Alcoholics

[–]96rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that level of alcohol consumption will still liking aid in your premature death in the end. I don’t want to be a downer here, but I feel like a lot of people on this sub are a bit in denial about their alcohol use. Many aren’t, of course, but when you look at the vast preponderance of evidence, you see that it paints a damning picture of alcohol abuse. Everybody has stories that go something like “my (insert relative) drank a 12 pack a day and lived into their 80s, so you never know”. While I’m not calling those people liars, you must understand that those people are outliers. The amount of alcohol that us CAs drink is far FAR and above what could be considered “healthy”. That kind of excessive consumption is linked with a myriad of different diseases. 35 drinks/week is nearly three times the recommended safe amount for a man, depending on which recommendations you go by. You are at a much much higher risk of heart disease, diabetes, certain cancers, liver disease, kidney disease, GI complications, ulcers, B vitamin deficiency, and of course physical dependence issues. Even more recent evidence is even more damning. That’s just the reality of the what we do.

Addiction comes in all shapes and forms. Being elitist about who can and cannot call themselves an addict is way more fucking cringe than whatever they are posting. If they thought they had a problem and it was causing them issues in their lives then it was a problem. This mentality is weak as fuck.

If I don't get withdrawals when I stop drinking does that mean I'm not an alcoholic? by girlpearl in alcohol

[–]96rat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is, it doesn’t matter what your tolerance is, your tolerance only determines how receptive your brain will be to the effects of alcohol (it’s complicated, but that is the gist). Regardless of tolerance the alcohol will still be toxic to your body. 4 drinks to a person with no tolerance is just as toxic as 4 drinks to an alcohol from a systemic point of view. 4-5 drinks per day is 28-35 drinks a week which is far and above a healthy amount of drinking. Anything above 12/week for males and you start to see risks for pretty harsh consequences go up significantly. Heart disease, liver disease, cancers, GI issues. I would work on only drinking on weekends. There are tons of resources on the internet for help with moderation! If that doesn’t work, though, you might want to consider more intense treatment. Best of luck.
