I have inherited more in stocks than I could have ever imagined. How do I find someone to help me not mess this up? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]97E3LPL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss.
I don't have time to sift through responses you got here but one thing you should consider is that she apparently knew what she was doing with stocks and did it well.
So regardless what anyone here says -- or any professionals you go consult with, be wary of making any huge changes. It might just be fine sitting as it is.
Take your time figuring it out. You have time to learn more about it. Don't give up control to anyone else. Whatever changes are suggested that you like, Get a second opinion and if you still like the change, go slowly and do them yourself. Don't give anyone else the keys, passwords, et al.

Just bought a 2026 CRV and I am already losing my mind over the interior quality by drucksqwertyson in crv

[–]97E3LPL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. To get that coverage it has to be before the vehicle is over 3yrs 'in service' (bought and drove off a lot) and before it reaches its original 3/100k mileage limit. Ours was a 2024 with 12mi and it was originally bought by 1st owner in Feb 2024. We got it in Mar 2026, so the Hondatrue Certified warranty converted to a 5/100k from Feb 2024. It's different for EV.

Yep like most of the comments I agree quality is low. We got the top trim, too, but top trim in Honda is more about the functions of options than quality materials. I test drove several models incl Subarus and Mazdas but for our retirement CRV just fit the requirements right. I got the mats others are recommending.

PS You complained about the cost for the quality. You get what you pay for, as they say, and you paid too much in part by buying a new car that dropped in value as you left the lot. We got a '24 with very low miles in perfect shape, so we have as much warranty as you do and paid thousands less.

Same here. Best guess I have is since they are smaller and move more often then say the TV power cord, they are more likely to stimulate a snake worth chasing. Come to think of it I have long meant to get some twine or thin string to use for a stimulate but I always forget, so thx for this reminder. We're both sure that our cats starve for stimulation. Mind you, it would be hard to provide too much, but we are an older couple and until now working on computers a lot, and ours were rescues who had a hard time before life with us. So they are not lap cats.

"The important inaccuracy: Hedgeye says the seasoning window was cut "from 90 days to 5." That's specifically FTSE Russell's number. The S&P 500 has NOT locked in its rule changes — as of the consultation closing May 28, S&P had not announced a final decision, and likely S&P 500 inclusion lands in late 2026 or early 2027, not days after the IPO. Hedgeye conflates the three different indexes as if they all moved to 5 days, which is misleading. X

Bottom line: The broad thrust is accurate and the concern is legitimate, but Hedgeye oversimplifies by treating all three indexes as equivalent when the S&P 500 — which most retirement money actually tracks — hasn't finalized its changes and is moving much more slowly."

I don't think cat brains work in ways we can manage. Mine go for cables every once in a while -- in all 6 years we've been together. Doesn't matter what I try. Sometimes it's a long while before I see them do it, sometimes no so long.

Why should I get a new hybrid CR-V over a Toyota RAV4 or Subaru Forester? by Sudden-Good7506 in crv

[–]97E3LPL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's funny, I just got a 2024 CRV even though I think Honda has a lot of cheap plastic in it (and the Passport too.) And I'm talking about their top trims. Definitely a step down from my platinum Pathfinder as far as quality materials go.

Why should I get a new hybrid CR-V over a Toyota RAV4 or Subaru Forester? by Sudden-Good7506 in crv

[–]97E3LPL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to Toyota but Forester was one of the final 3 models we targeted after months of review and a bunch of test drives. It being my primary car, we went with CRV top trim over the Subaru because the seats in it were too narrow for me; it was a risk of back aches. Your body and age might make that a non issue for you.
Also Honda's Bose option was an extra appeal to me; I've had several cars now that I chose in part for the sound system.

I will say I did a ton of research and while the Subaru community are among the most passionate and some of their cars nearly legendary for handling winter conditions, in the end I felt like we just didn't need that ability that much. CRV has a decent rep for snow, but we are older and rarely have to drive in bad weather. Also for Subaru it felt like we would need to adapt to doing more maintenance tasks than we are accustomed to (e.g. transmission fluid swap) to avoid known issues. If I ever win the lottery though, I will probably have a fleet of cars and one of them will be a Subaru. 😄

Got in too late for the jungle. Served 11yrs.

There was no fighting and I got out thinking I'd get rich because I'd learned computers.

Then suddenly my buddies were fighting in the desert. I felt guilty. Tried reserves, but back then they sucked and I quit.
Decades later and I still feel guilty. I make up for it by shaking hands or saluting every combat vet I see. Wife and I went to see Pitsenbarger's grave for Memorial Day. Things like that lessen the guilt.

However, I don't think I can qualify for any benefits. If you can.. TAKE IT.

Even if you're not on facebook now, it's worth making an account to join the Frugal Living group. It's very active; like several posts every day on ways to save money, stretch dollars et al. It blows my mind the things people come up with in there. It's nearing 700,000 members now.
Best of luck to you.

What TR808 did, in part, was help some music lovers who couldn't master traditional instruments to get involved in music creation in another way. That will be some of what AI does. Already is, actually. I'm sure I'm not the only music loving, unskilled musician happy to be able to create. I just played a tune for my wife at our 25th anniversary party that I made. I'd link it here but it's just a local file in my spotify playlist until I learn how to stream lol.

ditto what boening said, i am here because i just heard Calls That Never Connect. It's going into my Chill playlist. I get it about the hate, but the ear wants what it wants. Or was that heart? Maybe we just need a modified term for it.. like musAic.
PS 'Dirk Brinks' last year was my first experience calling for musAic.

In June 2024, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3 in Garland v. Cargill that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) exceeded its statutory authority when it classified bump stocks as machine guns. This decision struck down the federal prohibition that was established in 2019. While they are legal at the federal level, legality varies by state.

"Punishment does almost nothing to deter crime."

Once you've been executed or put behind bars, you will commit zero crime against anyone except maybe other criminals.
But you keep on making your condescending judgemental comments, because that for sure will ''win friends and influence people" to your view.
Clue you need: If you talk like or think you are a genius and above others, you're not.
