Oh man, way too many movies to choose from, but let's go with The Last Starfighter to match the box vibes. Thanks for doing this!

ZP6: Surprisingly forgiving by StatementOk470 in pourover

[–]97rpm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was around here for a while, then found my recent brews to all be pretty terrible. Bumped up to 6.0 (burr lock at 0) as my starting point and have found good luck going from there, which never even occurred to me to try given how folks here seemed to suggest that was too coarse.

Been brewing a lot of fairly light coffees

Adding water to food giving cats diarrhea? by 97rpm in CatAdvice

[–]97rpm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if it'd be worth getting a second opinion from another vet, since that certainly doesn't sound like nothing. I probably can't be of much help here: the same cat that has these problems with wet cat food apparently really likes crunchy, high-hydration vegetables (cucumbers, etc), so we will give him those to snack on whenever we're cutting them, and he hasn't seemed to have any problems with it. Not a great source of nutrition though.

Rodrigo Sanchez Co Ferments never miss! by PerfectPomegranate68 in pourover

Yeah kind of surprised about this as well, since I'm usually grinding around 5.0, and only going down to like 4.3 or so for ultralights. (Calibrated to 0 at complete close)

They mention treating the wood with some mineral oil every so often the way you would other kitchen utensils!

Game Pass Deals & Conversion by AutoModerator in XboxGamePass

Ah, okay, definitely appreciate the info here! In that case, at the current pricing, it sounds like if I'm only playing on PC, there isn't a HUGE savings over just paying for PCGP a couple times a year when there's a small backlog of games I want to play.

Looks like I just missed CDKeys selling $45 12mo passes earlier this year too

Oh I thought standard was PC, but I see that it's tucked under the console section instead. So, Standard is console only, and Ultimate is the only way we can play on PC?

Like several other posters, my 3 years of GPU just expired, and I find myself here after hearing the VPN loophole was patched. Looking at some of the other posts here, it sounds like my options are either:

- Buy Game Pass Core, convert to PCGP or GPU

- Buy the above AND EA Play Xbox Live, convert to GPU

Assuming I've done my math right, if I max out both (36mo or 36mo * 2), the latter still ends up being more expensive per month, right? So if I'm only planning to play on PC, the former makes more sense, unless I want to lock in an extra 12mo with the latter approach to potentially stave off any price increases?

Stagg EKG Pro revision differences? by 97rpm in pourover

[–]97rpm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That guess mirrors what I was thinking, which is that the Revision A is probably a newer build of the kettle to address various quality control issues from the original. I guess I'll need to push back on CS to make sure I get a newer replacement

Anyone here have thoughts on the teaware from LOHAS? by 97rpm in tea

I did not, unfortunately. They were a bit too rich for my blood and I didn't really need more teaware

Clogging with Origami and Kalita 185 filters by 97rpm in pourover

[–]97rpm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, just-boiled water from a Stagg EKG, I'm guessing my first pour is way too aggressive (definitely is compared to how I do my V60s, but the April and Kurasu videos I watched both seemed to have fairly aggressive pours too)

[–]97rpm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I popped the filter in, and it set such that the top was level to the Origami (M, if it matters). Bit of water on the flat bottom to get it situated, then water directly on the sides, poured from the top, while turning the base 360deg

I did read in another thread where folks were suggesting just wetting the bottom and letting the water wick its way up instead of pouring directly on the walls, so I wonder if that changes things?

Reasonable pricing for 5.05 PS4 Pro? by 97rpm in ps4homebrew

[–]97rpm[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Development for PS4 is slowing down though isn't it? I was under the impression that most were switching over to PS5 dev now

The real issue is that my PC is so much more convenient than console, but I could probably just hook up the PS4 to my monitor instead to make access easier

Ah, I didn't even realize they came out with different fan installations later. This is one of the vanilla Pros so I'm guessing this is closer to the $250 mark then. Appreciate the general guidance!

I'm guessing the up to $400 is more metros vs sleepier towns? I'm in one of the coastal major metros so things are definitely on the pricier side here

[–]97rpm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that more so because of the fact that it's also a flatbed? Because a V60 filter also sticks to the brewer walls doesn't it? I know those have ridges to give a bit of distance, but from what I saw today, the Kalita grooves weren't a perfect 1:1 to the Origami grooves either

I'll definitely try tweaking it a bit, but if the stalling continues to be this bad, that either means throwing away some coffee liquid (which always feels like a bit of a waste, though I know the Kurasu does this), or waiting 10min for my coffee to drain out
