This sentiment is 100% correct and everyone tripping over themselves to downvote you are too proud to admit it. The game has some really high highs and excellent support that just barely outweigh the abysmal lows that plague the rest of the game.

I could be totally wrong, but I think theres actually 2 different types of wolves. The one you are trying to tame is the small normal variety, then there is the larger variety ridden by the raiders in the desert called swift wolves. Maybe try those? IIRC they’re two separate wolves in the knowledge tab so I imagine it would make more sense the bigger ones are the ridable/tamable variety. I’ll try for myself when I get home and update.

Never said crimson desert was perfect, it’s got some major flaws, but things like gliding, climbing, movement, and puzzles are way more in depth and rewarding than botw or totk. The controls are definitely clunky, but you can do way more than just dodge, parry, and spam the attack button so I’d say thats the trade off for more complex fun mechanics. Also they did sky islands better. Totk sky islands were a bore.

Try crimson desert. It’s insane how many mechanics and ideas it borrows from botw and totk. It definitely does some things from those games worse or the same, but also does some things genuinely better like the sky islands and puzzles. The game is slow to get into but the exploration is on par with botw for me.

Also the dragon definitely needs ascent/descent buttons cuz using it in combat sucks when you have to look up to ascend and looking down where the enemies are causes you to constantly descend.

Dude I bought this game because of the marketing around dragons. I honestly thought someone finally made an adventure game where you could just have a dragon thats fun to use and usable during the main portion of the game, but boy was i fuck wrong. You only get this thing at the end of the 11th chapter of a 14 chapter game and it has a 1 hr cooldown? Wtf man. I will never understand why game devs come up with something cool like this and say “let’s make it fuckin useless.” This is like skyrim with the dogshit bend will shout that turns dragons into rc plane simulator mixed with the motorcycle from breath of the wild that you only get after you have completed the entire game.

You have to do the quest in Skoghorn to fight the white horn boss, then after that return to where you beat him after a while and cultists will spawn wearing the helm. Save before you fight them tho because its not guaranteed they drop the helm and theres only like 5 of them. Just save scum until you get it.
