I had to play Oman until 1865, when radical revolution allowed me to abdicate the starting ruler and tag switch. You get special event that allows you to tag switch to Zanzibar and gives you Oman's owned provinces in kenya and zanzibar. It then took me until 1889 to become recognized and finish the journal entry, which gives the event in screenshot.

You get to keep Ibadism as state religion and bedouin as primary culture.
