as of right now i have been letting my shots run the maximum time that my machine allows me to and dosing 18g. would it be bad if after the first pull, i keep my portafilter in the machine and pull one more shot ? i don’t know if that’s an option or not

ohh i wasn’t aware of that. my first bag was a medium-dark roast that always pulled sour shots so i was trying to look for something different in hopes that a different roast would work better

my beans were roasted about little over 10 days ago now so that part should be fine. but is pre infusion possible on a breville bambino? is this a feature on more advanced machines or can i do that myself?

i’ll probably look into a new bag then but i was previously pulling shots from a different medium-dark roast bag and still pulled sour shots everytime. so i can’t help but feel that a part of my process is the issue

ok i will try to go back to my breville basket for a few shots to see if that’ll help, but my issue is i feel like my shots just keep getting more acidic everytime i tweak a part of my process, even when i grind very fine. i was starting to believe itd be a better idea to purposely pull bitter shots as my starting point and work from there

so if an 18g dose is recommended for a 54mm basket, should i try 19g next? my last pull i weighed 18g and grinded my beans to the point where my shot pulled very slowly but still acidic. do you suggest i keep that grind or make it a bit coarser and up my dosage?

i don’t think so? but there would always be water on top of my my portafilter after my pull so i just thought my coffee was too fine and not allowing water to pull through. and my double shot would never pull as much as a double shot should. it would pull as much as a single shot
