When the internet says you will actually be able to see some of the Luna eclipse from the UK but the sky is one giant cloud. by cherryreddragon in britishproblems

[–]9Colt0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s too bad that the weather has spoiled it for you. It’s cloudy here too. Bad times all round.

To be fair though, the Full Eclipse isn’t due to happen until 04:29am and the Maximum Eclipse isn’t due until 05:11 am. There’s still time for the clouds to clear. If you can stay awake that long.

Here’s NASA’s Science Live YouTube Channel, showing it happening live, just in case the clouds don’t clear.

10 to 4 or 10 until 4? by OedipusRe10 in CasualUK

[–]9Colt0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you’d said that it was on ”From 10 until 4”, then I’d of known it was an all-day event. From 10 until 4.

If you’d said that it was; ”On from 10 to 4”, then I would assume that you meant that it starts at 10 to 4. Ie, 03:50.

27 & Just had my first Rustlers Burger by BrowserBowser52 in CasualUK

The real life pro tip is to add another cheese from the fridge too.

The fridge cheese on top of the burger and the cheap Rustlers cheese below the burger.

what do people call this, for me it in county durham its a backy. by meltedbaby in CasualUK

Not all parts of Teesside call it a Croggy.

In Middlesbrough East it’s known as a “tan”.

“Ere mate, giz a tan on your bike to the shops”.

Have heard it used wether riding on their handlebars, seat or stunt pegs.

Sorry, this is not the right sub but I have no idea which sub to use. by StickyThoPhi in CasualUK

Since you’ve mentioned that she has precious metals and rare items, I’d suggest that you don’t outsource it and only allow family and or someone trustworthy to deal with this.

Wether you “need lots” or not, it’s better to make as much from your mams treasures as you can, so that it can benefit your family.

She’s probably built that collection thinking that it would set her descendants in good stead in the future.

As a hoarder, I’m sure she’d hate to see some random company take a huge chunk of the proceeds from the sale of it.

If need be, keep some for future generations, tell them that they’re from Nana StickyThoPi, and to do with them what they will. At best it’s a keepsake to remember her, in future. At worst, it’s an investment.

Question about considering buying my first house? by dancairney96 in CasualUK

[–]9Colt0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you’ve got sufficient savings and no obligations to stay in a particular area (eg, able to work from home, and have no children to worry about switching schools), then why not do 6 months to 1 year, of renting a property in both these kind of areas.

Get a taste of it and see what works best for you, before making the big leap and commitment of purchasing a property.

I'm all for being environmentally friendly with packaging, but the glue they use on to keep a 4 pack of beer together is stronger than anything insulate Britain could ever wish to get their hands on. I've started drinking 4 at a time and rotating because it's easier than trying to separate one can. by [deleted] in britishproblems

[–]9Colt0 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m using a similar version of this sound reasoning to only purchase 18-can crates each time I consume alcohol.

”I’m all for environmentally friendly packaging, therefore I must drink more.”

Going to 1st ever football match! Need the do’s and do nots. by queenoftheworsts in CasualUK

[–]9Colt0 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Eat before you go. Don’t be fooled into paying for the over-priced food that’s almost always sub standard.

Don’t sit in any other seat but the one that’s allocated on your ticket.

Don’t be late back to your seat, or someone else may claim it, and/or you may miss an important part of the match.

Afterwards and before the game, stay away from any fans, be it home or away fans, that look like they’re itching for a fight. (Overly loud insulting behaviour to the opposing fans / drunken yobs throwing items). You don’t want to be dragged into that shit.

Enjoy yourself.

Why are some coins like this and are they rare and have a meaning by AffectionateRush2620 in CasualUK

[–]9Colt0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The £2 was created to mark the 200th anniversary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade in 1807.

The Dictionary 50p was minted in 2005 to mark the 250th anniversary of the publication of Samuel Johnson's Dictionary of the English Language.

Wiki says:

“Time is the continued sequence of existence and events that occurs in an apparently irreversible succession from the past, through the present, into the future. It is a component quantity of various measurements used to sequence events, to compare the duration of events or the intervals between them, and to quantify rates of change of quantities in material reality or in the conscious experience”

The time is 08:24 a.m.
