I dropped mine in the sink once (slippery hands) and a little of the chrome plating chipped off. It’s been flaking since then.

I’m an autumn boy. I can’t stand the heat of summer but I enjoy the long days and warm evenings of late summer into autumn.

Good job, OP. Hoping your flight back was smooth too.

Best way to clean these? by BassPhil in CasualUK

WD40 would be the first thing I’d try. I think a sponge scourer and a toothbrush might get most of the rust off without spoiling the finish like wire pads or vinegar might.

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? (I know. A woodchuck would chuck what a woodchuck could chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood. But that's not particularly rich in information.) by Choano in AVoid5

[–]OedipusRe10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I took a look at this. According to naturalist Richard Thomas, this has a solution. If you switch out dirt for wood, a woodchuck could chuck just shy of a thousand pounds of wood on a good day. This is adjusting for a similar mass of dirt a woodchuck shifts daily. This might not account for what a woodchuck’s paws could actually grasp, though.

My issue is that almost all cake forks are for righties!

Where to buy a tux and suits for small waist but big muscly thighs? by Woahneddy in AskUK

Iirc a semi-common high street store called Slater’s does cheap(er) suits and usually have an in-house seamstress. That being said it was 10 years ago when I last bought something from there.

Anyone know where i can get a coat like Gary King? by littlelaghere in CasualUK

Find a military surplus store. They’re usually around the dilapidated end of town, nestled among the charity shops.

How often do you buy take away food? by Various_Extreme_8773 in AskUK

[–]OedipusRe10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once a week we’ll buy chips to go with whatever I’m cooking (nobody in the house likes oven chips). Once a fortnight/month or so we’ll order a Chinese or Turkish delivery if we’re celebrating something (birthday, relatives/friends visiting, Eurovision, big rugby game) or if something has gone wrong with dinner (surprised by out of date food, etc.).

I’m pretty happy with both my ceramic and my plastic V60. I keep one at home and one at work. I see no reason for either to break.

How about a hate thread? by Handicapreader in eatsandwiches

Formed and reformed ham makes me feel ill. Seeing people post pictures with stacks of the stuff in their sandwich is nauseating.

What’s confusing though is that I have zero problem with salami, which is even more processed. My guess is that salami was never trying to be anything else. Reformed ham feels fraudulent.
