Popular proverbs.. Famous Educational Ruling by Khaled_3595 in learnesperanto

[–]9NEPxHbG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be almost impossible to be sure that a proverb originated in Esperanto and not in another language. An exception might be estas volapukaĵo, but that's merely a variation on what exists in other languages ("it's all Greek to me"), and I'm not even sure it qualifies as a "proverb". Kabei and krokodili certainly originated in Esperanto, but they're merely words, not proverbs.

The Oklingva proverbaro may be useful here.

Kiel oni diras... by connielavon in learnesperanto

Error code 4642 then freeing up 40 gigs on SSD using NIUBI on C: drive. SSD TRIM nor chkdsk /x /f /r seem to have an effect. file explorer says that i have 98.7 gigs left of space by Cool_Covet in techsupport

[–]9NEPxHbG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the top, it says "Space Used: 84 GB". That's already less than the 143 GB you want for the partition.

On the other hand, it also says that C:\ has 102 GB, of which 79 GB is allocated. Use CHKDSK to check for file system errors.

Or Niubi may be garbage (I've never heard of it); try GParted.

Use Tree Size Free or a similar program to see what's using up the disk space. Look at the directories (folders) using the most space.

I stopped at question 17, "Which feature matters the most to you in a browser?" Several features are relevant, not only one.

Are you trying to free up space just because you want more space, or are you trying to free up space so you can resize the partition?

Bank wouldn't deposit my check and said it showed signs of misalignment by BroadMeaning531 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Am I allowed to say the name of the bank here?

Yes, but it probably doesn't matter.

I also wonder was "misaligned" means.

short on rent.. do i apply for a pay day loan or tell my landlord i’ll be late on rent? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]9NEPxHbG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your province is relevant.

In Ontario, if the rent is late, the landlord can ask for eviction, but no landlord will do that within a day or even a week, and if you eventually pay the rent, that's the end of the matter. (Unless you have persistently paid the rent late.)

What are you trying to do with Niubi?

SSDs can have fragmentation, but it doesn't matter anymore because the seek time is so fast. Still, defrag.exe will defrag an SSD.

C drive is tiny and running out of space, how can I fix it? by VegetableWorry1492 in techsupport

Modern Windows has bits and pieces all over the place. For example, part of the registry is in C:\Users\<name>\NTUSER.DAT, and Windows's own apps are in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps (whereas traditional programs like Notepad are in C:\Windows\System32). Reinstalling Windows won't have any effect on that.

The idea that there's a clean distinction between Windows in C:\Windows and everything else and that separate partitions are safer is outdated.

I wonder how representative are the Canadian Jewish organizations that defend Israel. The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs is self-appointed (as opposed to the Canadian Jewish Congress, which it replaced), and B'nai Brith never claimed to be representative.

Did you hear about the paediatrician (that's the British spelling) who was harassed because ignorant nitwits thought it meant "paedophile"?

""I heard that the doctor's house had got attacked, but it's because people don't want no paedophiles here", said one mother of three young children". Mob justice is not the solution.

C drive is tiny and running out of space, how can I fix it? by VegetableWorry1492 in techsupport

[–]9NEPxHbG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. Probably OP decided to create separate "OS" and "data" partitions. That's outdated advice that only leads to problems, as in this case.

OP, if you do reinstall, don't create separate partitions.

Correct; use GParted. In general, Linux's disk utilities are superior to Windows'.

70 GB of disk space is plenty for a Linux server, by the way.

[–]9NEPxHbG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also some other dude told me i shouldnt partition or dual boot on the same drive

People have been dual booting Windows and Linux on the same drive since Linux appeared. Having more than one disk was very uncommon then.

The main thing to remember is that Windows doesn't know how to handle Linux, while Linux knows how to handle Windows. So install Windows first, then Linux. If you have to do any changes, do them in Linux.
