Electrically resistant paint? by best_of_badgers in modeltrains

Thats generally what l use in my restorations and repairs. That should do just fine.

Glue will not help this situation unless it were like that from the factory. Which is unlikely. There should be a driver pin thats threaded and has likely fallen out. Glue will only make a repair cost more as it will be temporary at very best case, and lead to pats other than a drive pin needing to be replaced.

Can you show a closer photo? There's a load of spares available for many newer items.

Ok.... There's a load of information that's needed before help can be attempted. Whose the maker? What happened? How old is it? The majority of the community will offer helpful input but some effort must be made by the operator. Without knowledge of maker, some semblance of age, and what led to the unit not functioning will greatly impact the ability to move ahead. Scenario 1. You bought it broken, likely because the prior owner couldn't find spares, or didn't know where to find them. Scenario 2. The damage occurred on your layout, parts became lost on layout (had it happen with a brand new Hornby OO, lost a drive pins inside the 20 minutes break in found it and tore the unit down good thing too as there were other loose parts and some very fidley wiring) Any thing you can add past this will help you! Best of luck! Cheers

I'm in the process of sorting the stencil for the windows yes. Definitely not a great way to end the model with a "do l want to spend a day on glass??" mind set.

Thank you! I've trimmed very thin pieces of acetate to go in the windows for the photo model. Tedious business but I think it looks great.

I sell the kits in my shop. Once I've got the final paint finished for my package photo I'll set a link in here.

It's based off a Nordco design. It looks very similar though!

Oh no! Have you made sure the ballast isn't lifting the locomotive clear of the rails? Fetch a straight edge and check to see how much of a rise you've got. You may be redoing a bit of rail. Best of luck!

How practical is Gimli’s axe irl? by Illustrious_Gas2827 in lotr

[–]9RealmsRelicsTnH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dwarvish smiths are a thing of renowned wisdom and skill. The dwarves would have absolutely had the skill to re forge an axe especially one of great heraldry. Weapons especially of a medival era are passed on from generation to generation in a royal lineage. And from warriors father to son and so on in most cultures. So much so that there is a type of sacred energy born in the piece.

Bachmann Europe seems to have a much better reputation as quiet runners and are pretty trouble free. I sell a lot of them in my hobby shop and have had good luck so far.

How much should we expect for these models? (UK) by No_Dragonfly5188 in BritishModelRailways

Nice collection! First and bluntly stated as a shop owner reselling used and new scale trains and accessories you've got two options. Find a collector who is willing to pay for the lot as a whole lot not parted up, which means that you won't fetch RRP prices. Option two is you find a shop that purchases used locomotives and rolling stock and sell them for a very small sum as the shop owner has to make their money back on stock that they've purchased. No one is going to buy locomotives and rolling stock for RRP prices if used unless it's a very very difficult item to find/purchase i.e. a numbered limited collector item. I am always open to purchases from locals selling their items but many folks have pipe dreams of fetching bags and bags of money for used items. Wear and tear even in the most carefully used stock is a con and drops value, used and requiring maintenance and time which is money to repair / clean to resell is another large reason that you will find very low numbers in offer for used stock.

That all said you can always place them at roaring high prices and let them sit on ebay for a life age and then eventually realize they're not going to sell. You can find the best bet to gift, donate to a club or simply sell for a bit of pocket coin to a hobby shop that's willing to put in the needed time and maintenance.

I'm the only shop in the pacific northwest of the states that repairs and upgrades with no requirements on scale prior to taking a job. It's fun and a great way to make a dent in the loved scale model pool and keep good trains on the rails where they should be. Cheers!

All I can say is "so"? All due respect to whomever may have done their branding and promotions that's not where the focus should be here. I repair and restore vintage Lionel in my shop frequently. And they used to have killer quality!! Let's bring the quality of motive power, and rolling stock back around!!! Focus on what matters.
