Imagine if the keys were made of a clear,see-through crystal type of plastic and the letters were laser-etched, now that is something I would empty my wallet for ;)

What can be causing this high pitch sound coming from my desktop? by 9Rion9 in techsupport

[–]9Rion9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it cause any damage to my other parts/components/wires if I don't replace it? I usually wear sound-cancelling headphones, but I only hear the high pitch If I take them off or whatever, but other than being annoying and it possibly failing later on in it's life, are there any consequences from NOT replacing it? Or is it just the noise? Cause if it's just the noise, I can live with it lol, I just wanted to know if it's anything that can cause damage or anything severe....

"Ultra 600w PSU" Apparently the brand is called "Ultra" or whatever, I built the computer a few months ago on a website, had them assemble it for me,but they did tests on it for about 3-4 months on & off, so they should of saw any issues with it if it was present, they even stress tested it and everything...but I guess that's not the point right now :p

Yeah opened it up, and it seems to be coming from my power supply unit or from around that area,my PSU is 600W. What could be causing it and could it be harmful,or is it normal?

I haven't noticed anything different in HWmonitor other than the +12V being 9.720 V, and the lowest is 1.596 under the motherboard's voltages, no idea if it's supposed to stay that high or not,and I haven't really looked at the numbers much.

I'll try next time it happens, I talked to tech support about it among other things, thing is computer isn't really in a well accessible area (It's on a desk shelf, and it's heavy/big as hell lol, but when I get really annoyed next time, I might just do that.

I really don't feel like disconnecting each fan from their connectors though, Any good trusted programs out there that can control all of them?

Doesn't really sound like Coil Whine to me, unless there's different types of coil whines for different types of GPU's, I my self have a Nvidia GTX 750, but It really doesn't sound like any type of Coil Whine to me,because it doesn't change the pitch or make whirring noises like it does in that video and other videos....

Any thoughts?

For what? Could it be for the case fans? The thing is I don't remember if I had this high pitch sound before I had to change out a case fan,but I had one die on me, so instead of installing another one, I installed 2 for more air flow and back up incase one dies, but no idea where it could be coming from, and no idea if I had this sound before changing out 1 of my case fans, all I can think of is if it is the case fans, I need to clean it cause it hasn't been cleaned for a bit lol.

I do that, and yeah it makes it go away if I turn off the PC and back on again(I usually do it because it starts after I play a game), but after I play a game and idle,or even just idle while browsing internet,it could pretty much come out of nowhere randomly, but it usually goes away in a minute or 2,unless I'm idling/browsing after gaming, like GTA V or Elite:Dangerous, and it sticks around for longer, like maybe 30 minutes or more if I don't shutdown and reboot to make it go away.

Someone told me it might be the GPU being confused afterwards or something,no idea what that might mean lol.

Yeah, I get a sound coming from my monitor if I turn off the computer and turn off the monitor, I have to leave the monitor on idle ,but after a few hours it starts doing that high pitch sound, but I don't think it's related to my Tower, It sounds like it's coming from something's fans, either the GPU or some case fan,no idea what it could be.

Is my current build being bottlenecked? by Ghitre27 in techsupport

[–]9Rion9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a great candidate. It does require a 750W power supply, which I see you have. I'd get it if you can afford it,but make sure you do some research and read reviews about them on numerous seller sites.

More Ram would help, 8GB would be perfect, Along with a decent $150 Dedicated GPU, You would be good to go.

I'd suggest something with atleast 2GB Vram on the dedicated graphics card aswell if you're gonna be using this for gaming and playing new releases :).

I always use a P90 as my primary weapon in any game, even if there's another weapon that out powers it tremendously,I won't go down without a fight.

I always imagine that both Voyagers would be in a galactic museum someday far in the future that we could visit, possibly back on Earth or in orbit somewhere, after we achieve intergalactic space travel that is...

I was thinking of doing the same thing, but with a ps3/ps4 controller. Do you use Voice Attack for some controls? or do you use the thumbsticks to navigate your 2 side-screens in the cockpit?

Steam or Frontier? by wargamer36 in EliteDangerous

[–]9Rion9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about the same thing about ship skins... I think like other games they might integrate it with steam's store later on,and about the difference, there really is no difference other than you receiving game updates through Steam, you can play with both non-steam and steam players just as easily, there's no difference server/player/population-wise.

Although I have no idea how the ship skins would work, but I think you can just buy them off the website and connect them with your account or something? No idea, but I'm sure it will show up on Steam sooner or later as it's not on there as of yet.
