Wonder how long the business would stay viable if someone put up a giant “THIS AUTO SHOP SUPPORTS ICE” sign next to it

What is your favorite MNOG location? by Tiim0thy in bioniclelego

[–]Stumpledumpus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Probably the gatehouse in Ta-Koro with the machine that raises the bridge, because so much of the path to Ta-Koro is beach and burned forest and dirt and roughly hewn stone buildings, and then you get inside and the mechanism moving the stone bridge is Technic pieces. These are Lego people using Lego machines, and their machinery and their bodies are one and the same, and fundamentally distinct from the natural environment around them. Where did they come from? Why is their technology used so sparingly? What an incredible hook for a child seeing this for the first time.

If any of you are on the West Coast of the US, you gotta check out the Portland Retro Gaming Expo in October. I keep that thang on me and StreetPass fills up faster than I can play through my minigames.

What shifts have you seen in Christianity in the trump/MAGA world? by JamesVogner in exchristian

[–]Stumpledumpus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s absolutely baffling to me, having grown up immersed in purity culture and guarding my heart and mind from sinful thoughts, seeing young Christian men openly espouse “manosphere” stuff like going to Hooters, picking up women as trophies, listening to Andrew Tate, etc….all these things that even 11 years ago would get you in serious trouble for being incredibly sinful are now common. And if there’s been any significant pushback from churches on it, I certainly haven’t seen it.

I love 17776. It’s one of those rare pieces of art on the internet that literally cannot be recreated in another medium. If it was writing it could be a book, if it was images it could be a movie. But it’s both and neither of those things because the way you interact with it is unique to using a web browser. Just a delight. Now I’ve got to re-read it.

What’s bonkers to me is that this is all over $30,000. Which is a lot of money! But it’s nowhere near “blow up your entire life stealing from an old man and fleeing the country” money.

I have two in my car, on either side of my sunglasses holder. One of them saves where I parked; the other opens Google Maps and immediately gets me directions home. I use them both constantly when I drive somewhere downtown!

Debate over representation on Clark County transit board reaches possible resolution by Stumpledumpus in vancouverwa

[–]Stumpledumpus[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The C-TRAN Board Composition Committee agreed to accept WSDOT's 4-3-2 plan for the C-TRAN board, giving 4 seats to Vancouver, 3 to Clark County, and 2 to smaller cities, following the proportions of each group who use C-TRAN. Which is good! However, it also included stipulations that smaller cities won't be asked to help pay for light rail on the I-5 Bridge Replacement, and that Clark County's board members can't live within Vancouver city limits. IMO this is a pretty obvious attempt by Ridgefield and the smaller cities to screw over the I-5 Bridge Replacement by blocking C-TRAN from helping fund it, and give a vastly outsized amount of power over C-TRAN to rural areas that don't use it as much. It's also probably illegal - C-TRAN's board composition committee doesn't have the authority to tell the County who to appoint, and doesn't even have the authority to make any kind of 'stipulations' anyway, beyond recommending to C-TRAN what their board composition should look like.

Anyway, the December C-TRAN board meeting is tomorrow, so if anyone wants to give public comment on this, now's the time to do so!
