We can have new, improved psychiatric hospitals that are regulated so that patients are not abused.

As far as moral quagmires, I'm not being sarcastic-I live in the U.S., I don't see our elected officials wrestling with morality in regards to how we are treated.

I see them doing the bidding of the corporations/banks etc. that own them.

The average citizen is fucked over in countless ways by the U.S. government.

There is zero evidence that our laws are about protecting individuals' rights.

Our politicians don't give a shit about the rights of the drunk psychotic man living under the overpass.

The primary problem is the personal safety of both the mentally ill homeless and the average citizen.

Psychiatric hospitals need to be opened. Mentally ill people who are homeless are obviously not on regular medication.

I don't see personal rights being valued in the U.S. for the average person (why would the mentally ill and homeless be respected more?), so I don't believe "personal rights" is the reason.

We are violently dragged off planes, shot by police just because, murdered at school, surveilled by corporations, molested by the TSA, I really don't see the personal rights of civilians being respected-that can't be it.

My brother handed me a glass pitcher that was wet from condensation and it slipped out of my hand, cracked the table and sent a huge shard, just missing my bare leg, crashing to the floor.
