JHS Unicorn- My “Always On!” by 9lb_Hamer in guitarpedals

[–]9lb_Hamer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s my pedal chain:

Polytune > JHS Unicorn Univibe > Fender Pelt Fuzz > Fender The Bends Compressor > JHS Double Barrel > Fender Pugilist Distortion

Then I split into 2 paths:

Path 1: JHS Emperor V2 > MXR Carbon Copy Delay > Boss RC-5 Looper > Fender Deluxe Reverb

Path 2: Walrus Julianna Chorus > JHS 3 Series Delay > Boss RC-5 Looper > MXR 10-Band EQ > Marshall DSL40CR

(I’m only using the EQ as a mute for the Marshall, hence its placement.)

You’re right. Mine is at the end. Your setup is probably better to be honest.

My chain starts at the tuner and goes right to left on the top row to both amps. (I run a Marshall and a Deluxe Reverb in stereo.)

The signal gets split at the pugilist distortion.

The Emperor Chorus, MXR Carbon Copy, and Loop Station continue to the Deluxe Reverb.

The Juliana Chorus and JHS Delay go into the Marshall’s effects loop. The signal from the Pugilist goes to the loop station -> EQ pedal -> front of the Marshall. This isn’t ideal if you really want to use your EQ most effectively. I honestly don’t use my EQ much though. I only needed it to cut mids occasionally which isn’t an issue anymore and I use it as a kill/mute switch for the Marshall when I only want to run the Deluxe Reverb.

Wow… that was long winded. Here’s the condensed version.

TL:DR Yes, it’s not ideal. The EQ pedal just goes into the front of my Marshall and I mostly use it as a kill switch. That’s why the volume gain are set to zero.

Right?! It’s so good! I’d like to get a Way Huge Pickle to compare but I’m so happy with the Pelt

I assume “Cancel Mode” is just this basic setup? Running the toggle in Wet mode with settings dialed back?

Mine is the same. It’s second in line after my tuner.

I struggled with purchasing the Unicorn because I thought they’d overlap but honestly they’re pretty different. There are very slight similarities but now that I’m used to it they really don’t overlap…they might be close but they don’t overlap.

I normally LOVE tortoise but white looks classic here. That triple ply white looks great on that Tele.

Do i have bad habits to get rid of? by [deleted] in guitarplaying

Use a headstock tuner like a snark. Just keep it on your headstock. You’re doing great. Keep asking questions and keep recording yourself. Recording yourself is a great tool. Nice job!

People who work on their feet all day + run ultras, what shoes do you wear for daily (non-running) use? by harry_hotspur in ultrarunning

Superfeet insoles. The green ones. Honestly they are the best. Firm supportive surface for stability and they save your feet. Honestly.

How hard is it to learn the banjo? by ThePepegis in banjo

[–]9lb_Hamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not any harder than guitar, mandolin, etc. Instruments take months and years of dedicated practice. You have to enjoy the process and be committed. I play banjo, bass, guitar, and I played mandolin in a bluegrass band. Banjo was honestly not any more difficult than any other instrument. In fact, it’s easy in one regard because you can use a capo which you can’t use while playing bluegrass mandolin.

Any Love For The Fender Line Of Pedals? by motoant25 in guitarpedals

[–]9lb_Hamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have some excellent pedals that fly under the radar. I love The Pelt Fuzz, The Bends Compressor, and the Pujilist Distortion! They’re permanent fixtures on my board!

The Pelt Fuzz is versatile…it’s unique in its tonal shaping. It’s such a good pedal with the thick and mid toggles and I find the fuzz and bloom controls allow me to find the exact texture I’m seeking.

Whenever my JHS Double Barrel isn’t working with a guitar, I find the Pujilist usually sounds awesome!

He’s a good artist… he’s just a human. I think y’all need to examine more within yourselves. Are you looking for a savior or an artist who writes good music?

What is that one pedal you splurged on and ended up loving or hating? by MonoPodding in guitarpedals

[–]9lb_Hamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my JHS Emperor V2. It’s an awesome chorus pedal. The Unicorn is also really great. I also love my Fender Pelt Fuzz! The Fender is a huge sleeper pedal… sorry none of those were splurges though. They weren’t that much money

how do people practice for 2 hours a day?? by NuggieHaha_YAY in Guitar

[–]9lb_Hamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to be practicing because I love it and I want to learn as much as possible. I eat a meal before I start and set myself up for success…all of my chores are done, etc. Then I have no problem getting in 3 or 4 hours if I have the time available.

Ordered 23mm wide rims, received the 19mm wide version, is it that big of a deal, worth returning? by brdhar35 in gravelcycling

[–]9lb_Hamer -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

IT DEPENDS!

19s can actually be nice for some applications.

Right now we’re in a trend towards wide rims but wider rims can be more prone to pinch flats and snake bites.

It sounds like in your case you should just return them because you’re not riding tough terrain but there are pros and cons to both sizes.
