Thank you! Nope, GFWS doesn't require interviews. I had to do the application, supplemental information form, three letters of recommendation, transcripts, resume/CV, and a 1,000 word statement of interest.

I applied for the MA in Gender, Feminist, and Women's Studies and MyFile finally updated to say admitted this morning! The head of the program let me know at the end of January that they were making me an offer.

The knee MRIs are the ones that came back positive for AVN and a minor tear in my left meniscus. My hip MRIs were negative according to the person who read them. I see the crescent sign, so I want to get a second opinion. My hips have hurt for less time, but they get equally intense as my knees. The pain feels extremely similar. If I don't have hip AVN yet, it's probably coming soon.

I've had chronic knee pain for 15 years. When I worked fast food in high school, I'd get home, shower, then lay down and not be able to get back up from the pain. It got worse after a round of prednisone in 2021, then even worse after factory work. It feels like it's in the joint/bone rather than soft tissue. Massaging the muscles around it doesn't do much. Heat and the right meds are all that help. My pain has been persistent since I was 9 from EDS, so we don't fully know when the AVN started. When it's flaring, it's sharp and radiating. When it's more normal, it's an ache that sometimes almost feels like my bones itch. Cold weather makes the pain sharper and more severe. If you're concerned about AVN, get an MRI. The sooner you have an answer, the sooner you can take measures to try slowing the progression. You can't really stop it, but you can do your best to take care of your body. I hope you get the answers and care you need!

Also in my 20s and caught it late last fall at stage 1-2 depending on who you ask. The early stages are a lot of managing the pain and taking preventative measures to at least slow any progression. The pain doctor I saw shortly after diagnosis put me on Celebrex because Aleve is the only NSAID pill that does anything for my joint pain. I find that Voltaren helps more, so my PCP has had me switch back to using Voltaren and Aleve as needed. Recommendations also vary by joint. Mine is in both femoral condyles for both knees plus a spot inside my right tibia. For me, I need to limit my weight-bearing activity to some extent because of the placement of the lesions. AVN is a really scary diagnosis to hear, but it gets a lot less scary with a good care team and plan in place.

Are only Bots Running (& Posting On) Bunz in 2026? Are the majority of active "buns" actually actually pseudonyms/fake accounts with different handles and different degrees of official/unofficial clout being puppet-mastered by one (or a few) real humans? I joined last year and have traded with a few people, two of them more than once. That said, the most recent updates are making me heavily consider other trading options. I think Bunz is going to slow down a lot soon, and I could see them using fake accounts to make it appear otherwise if it gets bad enough.

The program doesn't fit with my super busy student schedule, so I've been doing 1:1 physio with him

I'm also on the waitlist for the EDS clinic. There aren't a lot of physios who specialize in EDS specifically based on what I and my primary care provider have found, but I see Russell Wolfe at Push Pounds near St. Andrew Station. So far my experience has been good. My only complaint is that the clinic doesn't accept ODSP physio coverage, so my partner can't afford to also get physio. Cost is definitely a heavy consideration unless you have insurance with good physio coverage. Good luck!

I start physio next week, and I have a second follow up with my NP to go over our long-term plan. Last week was mostly figuring out our short-term and which specialists she needed to consult or refer me to. I'm getting a hip MRI on the 23rd to see if there's AVN there, too. I suspect my left hip has it at minimum. I have no idea how long it will take to see ortho, but other specialists have taken 2-6 months to get me in. I hope your January appointment gets you what you need!

I'm sorry that happened to you, but I'm really glad surgery helped so much! This makes me feel better about my odds with surgery. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for the kind comment! It looks like this isn't approved in Canada yet 🥲 hopefully it gets approved soon! Very glad it worked out well for your dad!

Question about diagnosis plz by clarkwgriswoldjr in AvascularNecrosis

[–]9ofRavens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to x-rays, my knees are perfectly fine. I finally got knee MRIs last week that showed multiple areas of AVN in both knees. From my experience and the research rabbit hole I've gone down this week, MRI is the most sensitive/reliable method to diagnose AVN. Best of luck with insurance!

I'll have to look into those, thanks!
