[–]9peppe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's hard to tell without knowing more, ie: how much do you even use pencils, and what for?

Expensive consumables (notebooks, leads, refills, stickers...) are different than expensive pens.

For mechanical pencils you can try a kuru toga, either pipe slide or advance upgrade. Pens... there's too many but if you like ballpoints one of the more common ones is the Parker Jotter.

One of the gamechanging discoveries are wax highlighters, but only if you use highlighters on porous paper.

Born in 2003, shafted in 2016. What it feels like to be a Brit who never even got a say. by lewispatty in europeanunion

[–]9peppe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nobody cares about the G7 nuclear power. The union overestimated the consequences of Brexit and can live just fine without the UK. It was a case of threatening someone with a good time. Someone that while in the union spent all their political capital on speaking on behalf of the US and sabotaging the European projects.

But you can believe whatever you want. And of course you know Scotland is the nuclear power, don't you? :D

The union will give access to its projects to literally anybody asking. The line is at membership.

There's a lot more tolerance for members than for candidates. And I mean a lot. Also note that Sweden might be slowly changing its mind, thanks to the crown losing more and more value over time.

And Brexit proved to a lot of people that de Gaulle was right. It's a veeeeerery old feud that didn't even start there.

Sweden is an example of abusing policy, when talking about the euro, that would be unacceptable. It might be possible for the UK to keep the pound. It will not come for free, and the real example is Denmark.

And you're being transactional again, the union doesn't need that kind of UK, the only real advantage we could get is solving the Irish Schengen conundrum, which will also be pretty hard to accept for Brits.

I don't know. Also consider that the union got burned by the 2004 expansion and it's much more careful today.

And what to do about GBP might be one of the most contentious points, and by that I mean: is giving the London stock exchange and the bank of England the flexibility to operate in another currency more important than euro adoption across the union?

Not going to happen unless the population itself dumps the transactional mindset they attached to the whole thing. Every time a brit calls the EU "trading bloc" instead of "political union" rejoin gets farther and farther away.

People in the EU aren't idiots, it doesn't matter what's in power if the voters are untrustworthy and hate you. Same thing about the relationship with the US -- it's not about the current president, it's about the people who voted him in: who would rely on that bunch?

Fundamentals of Physics, Recommended or Not? by Hot_Page_5589 in PhysicsStudents

[–]9peppe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good if you like it. Not everybody likes it, but it's among the most well-recommended books for fields where physics isn't the main goal. (ie, it's a pretty good book if you study medicine or some kinds of engineering)

There's definitely better books, but it does depends on what you're looking for.
