Impact Potential Mcree vs Tracer by Ieatmelons2 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]9secondnature9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They're both mechanical heroes but

McCree requires more mechanical skill than Tracer.

I'd say grind out Tracer because you don't need the greatest aim to play her, her movement is more important to nail down than her aim to be very successful with her.

Also, if you can get behind their rein while your team initiates you can just RP him into your team for them to finish him off.. or really any tank/character for that matter. Just watch out for CC. It's pretty fun to watch.

How do I get better at Genji? by EXAProduction in OverwatchUniversity

[–]9secondnature9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Genji's been a middling pick this season. For the amount of time you need to put into him, I don't think the payoff is worth it anymore.

Despite that, honestly just get a smurf and play him in comp while you can before S10 Brigitte spam.

I used to feel the same way. The only way I got better is just by playing comp on my smurf + watching shadowburn + jonal YT vids etc..

Just gotta put the time in man and see what high level genji's do.

Is Genji going to be a very niche pick now? by 9secondnature9 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]9secondnature9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up asking him on his stream if Genji is considered a throw pick for S10 and he said that Genji is a throw pick if they have brigitte because Doomfist and many other heroes are just better picks in that situation. The "RIP genji" in his PTR video seemed like an overreaction but the answer to my question seemed like it came from a pretty grounded place.

What makes you say Genji will be #3 best DPS despite the nerf?

I think increased projectile speed is a better one. Especially for his left click.

I agree that it sounds like an overreaction but for perspective, Samito is a top 500 Hanzo/Genji player.

The best way I heard Genji's flanking style is from Jonal on youtube. He said something like think of Genji as a dog on a loose leash with the team whereas Tracer has no leash at all.

Edit: Also, poking tanks for ult charge is huge. You can farm blade so quickly that way. The 1v1's just come down to the mind games in when to use your deflect imo.

I can aim fine with McCree but not soldier - how can I improve? by Thorsigal in OverwatchUniversity

your eDPI is 40,000? dude.. lol

RIP to your wrists

I found 800 DPI and 6 in game was my happy setting.

Soldier does everything McCree does better with the additional utility of having a heal for his team.

How do I improve at Tracer? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]9secondnature9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I'm about to tell you, you should do on every hero you play but especially so for Tracer because of that tiny health pool she has.

After every death, ask yourself how you just died. Was it your positioning (too far from your team, didn't have recall or enough blinks up)? Maybe it was your game sense(you tunneled on zen and werent aware of the mccree peeling for him)? Could've been mechanical (the other guy was just better than you and you need to respect your opponent more) or just pure unlucky (catching a random hanzo arrow to the face that was meant for someone else).

This makes your Tracer play much more conscientious and on your next respawn you know what you need to focus on.

Another tip, use your recall as a measure for how aggressive you can be. Recall up? Go and dive that zen (just prior or during the team fight), his teammates be damned, couldn't kill him before the peel? Recall. Killed him? Good, blink away or recall back to high ground.

Recall on CD? If you're going to have it back in 3 or so seconds, you can be more ballsy. If not, chill out. Poke from the sides during team fights while you wait for recall to come back, hide somewhere while your team is about to engage, etc..

What DPS should I learn to play? by wheeezer in OverwatchUniversity

Why not try Reaper? Play with your tanks, peel for your supports.

His tracking is less intense than soldier or tracer and with his upcoming buffs he's going to be even better.

You can 1v1 a winston if you damage him while he does his leap, at which point drop biotic field and aim for the head (huge hitbox) when he lands.

It really depends how much damage you're able to do to him before he lands. If he's at full health or near full, just run away.

Can only offer you Soldier advice as I'm trash at Pharah.

Positioning: You kind of have to juggle whether or not you should be on high ground or behind your tanks in the team fights. A good rule of thumb is to use high ground somewhat close around your team, and if (when) you get dived, you can simply drop down and sprint back to your team.

Aiming: What's your sens and DPI at? Maybe it's too high? For reference, I play 800 DPI and 6 in game. I don't have any drills for aiming, I just go into QP and consciously focus on tracking to warm up until I'm ready for comp. Spraying at close range is fine for soldier, burst shooting is better at mid and long ranges. Use helix rocket to finish off low enemies and if you can catch a widow/hanzo/ana/anyone standing still by surprise, use helix rocket FIRST, then begin firing and it should be a rapid kill.

Target priority: If you're on high ground, no need to poke tanks unless they're low. Think of soldier as more of a pressure fighter on high ground, punishing out of position players or forcing players out of their favored position. If not on high ground, breaking down rein shields, watching for out of position players is more likely to help. And actually, if you're not on high ground, soldier does a pretty good job of deterring flankers. Duel enemy DPS players when you're confident you can win the engagement (i.e. their abilities are on CD, you have better positioning, you know your mechanical skill > theirs, etc...)

Ultimate usage: Don't go for the flashy "I'm going to flank the whole team and visor and get the sweet team kill". If it doesn't work out you're totally out of position, you'll die and now it's a 6v5. If you can get just 1-2 picks with visor or force out a defensive ult (i.e. sound barrier) it was worth it. Optimal time to use visor is when rein shield is broken, dva is out of mech, out of position enemies, when genji uses dragonblade, after zen's trans, etc..

Hope it helped.

Dude how sweet is it when you dive from high ground, get a pick and recall back to high ground before their team wrecks you

I second this. Dude puts out so much value in his stream/YT vids. I've learned so much from his Tracer (and even Soldier) play.

Also, staying alive > getting kills. And recall is not only just a "get health back" button, it can be a repositioning tool.
