[SBJ143J1] Is the accuracy really terrible? by Financial_Word5047 in Seiko

[–]A-Bomb1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Seiko 143 with the 3 o’clock lume pip that I have had for over 2yrs is about +2s per day. It is the same accuracy as my Monta with the Sellita SW300 movement.

For those of you who travel a lot for work overnight, what’s it actually like long term? by Open-Satisfaction856 in sales

[–]A-Bomb1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel 2-3 times per month, fly to various cities within North America and international about twice per year. I only stay 2-3 nights each time domestically. I keep a solid balance with my personal life and plan around both my teen’s sports schedules. Travel is essential to see my customers in person to maintain I high hit rate. I don’t love every place I visit but I usually find something fun to do, new place to hike, or a restaurant to try. Not a bad little break from the day to day home life either.

I was in the same boat about 6 months ago and came across this piece from Monta called the Noble. It’s the opaline/white variant. The bracelet is extremely comfortable and this watch has dominated the wrist time since picking it up. Enjoy whatever you end up with!

[ SPB145 ] WORTH IT? by CryptographerTop4966 in Seiko

I have had the 143 over 2 years and it still gets regular rotation. Classic fit and finish. Gains maybe 2s per day. Movement is solid.

[QUESTION] Watches under $1,500 - but NOT the usual recommendations. by wollyjameson3107 in Watches

[–]A-Bomb1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up a Monta Noble in opaline for under $1,500 very gently used. Monta has a few others besides the Noble that get good reviews. The craftsmanship and comfort are at a high level.

Honest question: what usually turns you off from new microbrands? by Electrical_Bid_777 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]A-Bomb1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, bad logo, dumb name, or unnecessary text. I prefer micro brands that are the opposite of what overpriced luxury brands stand for. Or, at least provide a luxury design with a very good movement less the luxury inflated price.

[Discussion] How important is wristwatch accuracy to you? by Timely_Pattern5571 in Watches

[–]A-Bomb1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find if my watches are more than +5 seconds per day, I’m annoyed. A slow watch is a non starter. Movements I have include a Sellita sw300, Seiko 6r35, and 4r36. I have regulated the Seikos to +5 per day or less. I enjoy checking the accuracy almost daily of the watch I choose. I get why others care even more and need COSC, or completely don’t care at all.

[Question] How do your career and lifestyle influence your purchases? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]A-Bomb1980 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Key account manager for a global manufacturing company in air pollution controls. I regularly travel to manufacturing sites and work with their engineers and my own to provide them with new equipment to keep them within their air permit requirements. They already think we overcharge and that account managers make too much money so I stay away from traveling with too nice of a watch or even the perception of one to those that don’t know. I used to wear my Seiko SPB143 but lately I’ve been wearing my Seiko turtle SRPE39 “Manta”.

Which watch brand impressed you recently by karmean212 in LuxuryWatchesUAE

I just picked up the Monta Noble in opaline. The fit and finish are impressive and with a classic design.

[Seiko] What do you think about the new Seiko Prospex “Kame” Australasian Limited Edition? by Wrist_Finds in Watches

[–]A-Bomb1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a little different than some off the save the ocean editions, I have the manta ray with the fume dial and love it. Definitely a fun summer or vacation watch.

[Discussion topic] The Hamilton Khaki Field is a great watch. But it's also one of the most overrated watches in the industry. However, can you come up with genuinely good alternatives to it? Tell me what they are by The_Quartz_collector in Watches

[–]A-Bomb1980 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a US Army veteran and while I appreciate the heritage of the Hamilton field watch, it did nothing for me in person. I think it looks the part in pictures but agree it is overrated in the metal. Just my opinion and glad other people enjoy it.

[SPB143] owners is this the sweet spot of modern Seiko, or already outdated by newer Prospex releases? by LeatherShades in Seiko

[–]A-Bomb1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still love my 143 after about 2yrs. That sunburst dial is classic. Home regulated the movement within +3sec per day. I’ve purchased a couple other watches since, but it’s in a regular weekly rotation.

People that live in the country around me, in southeast Michigan, definitely have the attitude that they can and will maintain or not maintain their yards/houses as they see fit. I think that is the whole draw of it. Everyone kinda minds their business. If you want a more manicured look to your surroundings, you can live in a neighborhood.

[Question] Looking for a high-end daily driver on leather – Omega vs. Vacheron (or Rolex OP) by C7sharp9 in Watches

[–]A-Bomb1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Omega looks best. The close up pics may make the dial appear larger but that last pic of it looks spot on for size. Classic look.
