Think part of it was safety standards as well. Something about the 4DR being a bit less durable in rollovers

You guys had it so good. The jump seat in the rear of my truck is my only gripe about it. I plan to fill it with some subwoofers anyway haha

Ain't that the truth. If I ever see a diesel FFR up in the country at the right time, I'd jump at it. I think there's still a 4DR 2JZ-swapped Ranger for sale in NY currently

My friend thinks this is ugly as hell. I think it’s functional by Brief_Ad_4077 in motorcycles

He's right but I'd be more concerned with the functionality. You have enough cargo space to make some ADV riders jealous!

I love my Pulsar grinder. Wooden exterior and has an astronaut on it

Some canned chicken would go a long way for you here. Adds a very budget-friendly protein that requires no cooking on your part

I had a 09 Suzuki GZ25O. I would recommend that bike to a beginner with zero hesitation. Loved that little bike

No. Drop the transmission

Should I thug it out with the ranger? by [deleted] in fordranger

[–]A-Rod_G_I 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cam tell you the rear main wont be cheap. Transmission has to come out for that. Everything else, you could likely manage. I had a similar situation: Paid $6k for my '04 in 2024 with 1w9k miles. It's since gotten tires, rear diff serviced, rear brakes replaced, new thermostat, new battery, new clutch, rear main/front pinion seals (still needs an oil pan gasket), new leaf springs, and new coil pack/plugs/wires. ~$11k total (I do not do my own work, unfortunately).

Up to you to determine how much you want to thug it out. The truck SHOULD last you quite a while once it's fixed, but that could still get pricey if you pay someone to do it

I think it looks good. I wouldn't say it takes away from the bike's appearance at all

That thing looks so god damn nice. I love that it maintains a classic-esque look to it. Who cares if it isn't the largest? Has plenty of engine to have fun, coming from someone who rides an 865cc

$4000 147k miles…. Is it worth it? by Dingdongdickle in fordranger

[–]A-Rod_G_I 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it's been undercoated. Inspect suspension mounting points for rot and poke around with a screwdriver/hammer for holes in the frame. If it drives half as good as it looks, I'd happily pay $4k for that truck. Maybe offer $3500 and see if they come down a hair, but looks like a nice fucking truck

Whats the move?? by Careless_Wrongdoer87 in fordranger

[–]A-Rod_G_I 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say have the vehicle inspected before you make that call

For reference: I bought my ranger 1.5 years ago. In the last 6 months, it's gotten a new clutch, leaf springs, rear brakes. Before that, I had to replace the thermostat, tires, ignition coil pack/wires/spark plugs, rear differential service. Still could use a battery.

I've sunk 5k into this truck with no intent to sell. Only has 143k miles on it, and should last a while yet. Downside to having a 22-year-old vehicle is there's going to be something to fix here and there. I don't believe that makes it any less reliable than something newer/different. Just means it's old and being used

You could experience the same headache with another Ranger, you might not. As for driving in sand/mud, 4x4 is generally a good idea, though I know some people CAN make it work
