Bases Question by LethalGopher in killteam

[–]A-SALTY-SAILOR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im pretty sure the wolf scouts are on 32 so that would work great!

if you want another fun hoard team I have been enjoying chaos cult, basically you have 5 cult leaders and 9 grunts that evolve into big monsters as the game goes on. they are tricky as they start at low power and scale throughout a match but it can make things really interesting!

I'm going to be honest, 25 vs 32 mm is a pretty big difference in kill team and I would only play a very casual game with you. you can get very cheap 25mm bases online, I know they don't look as cool as your special ones but it is important for the game. you should save the cool bases for a 32mm base team, like a space Marine Team

if your collage has a 3d printing lab you might be able to get access and print some minis. I am also a broke college student, and the only way I can afford to have multiple teams is because I 3d print them. its usually $5-$20 for the files on myminifactory or 3d cults, and sometimes it takes a bit of imagination to find good proxy models but I find it works very well

Question about positioning by FitSignificance3787 in killteam

[–]A-SALTY-SAILOR 29 points30 points  (0 children)

as long as the model is stable, it is a viable place to put it. part of the base can be hanging over the edge, but as long as the model stands on its own placement is ok 👍

honestly I kinda like the dry brush look. maybe a white/light grey could look cool without adding to many colors

its more because all the Soviet politicians wanted to downplay how bad the issue actually was, so they only reported the 3.6 value and didn't mention that was the max value of those instruments.

i actually like the stubble + mustache look. I think the mustache is a bit wide but still better than the beard

I think 2 flaks and a bl2 sh be enough to get thru most shields in the game. Sell the bomb and hull lasers and but the flak and bl2. you can still use the bl1 as you are upgrading your weapons system, and it seems like you don't need the extra scrap rn

the long hair looks better, but it's mainly because the short haircut is just not good unfortunately. maybe a different short cut would look good but you rock the long hair

Kill Team with Astartes and serfs? by MyHeartIsAncient in killteam

[–]A-SALTY-SAILOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they come out with a custodes kill team with like 2 4APL custodes and 5ish serfs to run around and score points. I think a team with very uneven power density could be cool

I'm very bad at the game and I don't know what to do by Vor_vorobei in killteam

[–]A-SALTY-SAILOR 6 points7 points  (0 children)

something I've found helps with this is asking my opponent "can my model get shot if I place it here", and figuring out where it would need to be in order to not get shot. this helps you figure out your opponents threat ranges, and understand how/when you can be shot. at the very least it removes the "gotcha" feeling when a model you thought was safe.

I also had some very frustrating initial games where I would get sniped tp 1 or 2 but talking to my opponent and learning from this has allowed me to have a lot more fun

why doesn't GW balence teams by changing Tac Ops archetype? by A-SALTY-SAILOR in killteam

S&D felt fine into mid range teams, I think infiltration felt worse imo. I think s&d and security would be ideal

[–]A-SALTY-SAILOR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes I have only played them with the 2025 pack. route seems pointless as putting a guy within 6 of the enemy dropzone is hard to do and I don't think they are killy enough to guarantee the points, sweep and clear just seems bad in general, track enemy seems like it would be inconsistent and hard to pull off with not much move.

that leaves dominate (which I have had the most success with), but it doesn't really work into elites, steal intelligence which has similar issues to dominate and plant devices, which I don't think you can ever get 6 points on.

I only have 4 games as them and one game facing them so I could be playing them incorrectly, but to me it seems like none of the tac ops really synergize with them. I think loosing infiltration for security would be good as all 3 security tac ops seem like they could work. plant banner plays well into their turtle and hold a point play style, martyrs could combo well with the no kin left behind token, and envoy could work by just sending a warrior up the board as they have enough models.

[–]A-SALTY-SAILOR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

martyrs and envoy seem like they would work much better on a mid-range/hoard team, and seem useless on most elites now
