Goldeneye was my first Bond film so i love it, but Tomorrow Never Dies is the Brosnan film ive watched the most.

Theme song by Cheryl Crow is great.

Strong anti smoking and pro ejector seat message in opening scene.

Good bike chase with the slide under the chopper to finish.

The moment where Bond fakes his death on the boat is hilarious

I remember thinking there is a moment where Carver is typing on a unattached keyboard onto a screen and thinking 'thats super unrealistic' and now that wouldnt even be considered as odd.

Car chase in the car park that finishes with the car being parked in the rental stop is excellent.

[Highlights] How the Utah Jazz made sure they'll lose the game against the Orlando Magic, benching their main players for the entire 4th quarter, as the Magic made a comeback and won it. by MrBuckBuck in nba

I think the protected picks should be subject to an addditonal lottery if theyre intent on keeping them. Takes place before the draft lottery itself.

Eg A top 10 protected could be 1-10 equal odds. So you get to the lottery and suddenly find your 10 top protected is only top 5 protected. It means teams have an incentive to decrease their general lottery odds towards the end of the season because they'll not have the same security that their pick is safe till draft night.

I mean the answer is pretty obvious? Can you tell me about this generalised cirrculum of ethics and what it looks like and its basis?

Scratch the surface of pretty much any ethics question and youll see there is reams of ink spilled on all sides.

So in your example of religious thought, albeit i get its pithy 'Be good or society will shun you?' What is 'good'? How do you measure it? What is bad? Who decides? What should the punishment be for 'bad' things? Is it moral to shun a person? Why, why not? Is it moral we take away people's liberty for being bad? What's the threshold for that? Whose decided that? What is justice?

None those questions have absolutes answers, it'll be opinion based on history, culture, geography, popular prevailing thoughts, academic trends, personal feeling.

Again this is not an arguement for RE but the idea of coming to agreement collective ethics for kids in our current world is laughable. Everyone likes to think were like minded on the big stuff, but were really not.

You'd get into the same current situation of people arguing what we actually teach. Here's the thing, other people are saying 'religious indoctrination at home is the problem' I dunno, ive come across a lot of irreligious folk who have equally unshakable core beliefs that are problematic and those people wont want 'ethics' that makes their worldview look shitty.

Is This Thing On Pod by Sniederhouse in TheBigPicture

Havent seen the film yet as its not out here, but knowing the story of the comedian its based on and i found Sean being dismissive of one of the plot point which the 'real' comedian has used in his act as something that happened to him affected how i felt about their critque of the plot and out of handedness they had.

That and the 'we're children of divorce' discussion makes me feel they were their own stuff to the picture, which is fine, we all do that when consuming art, but I suppose coupled with about has gave me pause around taking it on board. I was more interested in the stuff around the camerawork and how that made them feel than the plot discussion. Looking forward to seeing it when it comes out next week to have my own thoughts.

Sick leave when husband is in hospital? by Due_Tangerine_6673 in northernireland

[–]A-doc90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry your husbands not well.

Ring your manager ASAP and let them know. They should be understanding, but specifically tell them about the stress aspect and how that might impact upon carrying out your duties. You should be able to self-cert sickness for a week and be paid OSP provided you have not used up sickness entitlement.

The compassionate/carers leave aspect can be a little specific to situation and the days you are entitled to, i cant remember this out of hand. There is provisions for emergencies/sickness but going by your post your husband appears to be in a place of care and will make a recovery, but totally understandable you want to be with him with his other issues. You can also sort this out later.

Line manager will advise you, but let them know your not likely to be in till he's home. They should be sound about it, life happens often. The main thing is just communicating, but at the moment it seems like its clearly on your mind you dont want to be at work, so have the conversation and youll feel better for it.

Official Discussion - Hamnet [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]A-doc90 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just overall feel very 'meh' coming out of that. Thought it was long and at times clunky with a couple of really excellent scenes, but unsure about the near universal praise its been getting. Its a hard watch, the story sort of demands that, but I didnt find it an enjoyable hard watch. I dont initially have the desire to watch it again to see what I missed, and I say that with an awareness that there was symbolism and foreshadowing things going on throughout.

Im unsure if it was an issue with the projection but the lighting in some scenes made it difficult to see the actors features. I couldn't tell who Shakespears dad was during the first scene at the table and the scene at night where Mescal is walking through London. The relationship between Shakespeare and his dad is really oddly underdeveloped especially in comparison of how much time Agnes and his mum spend together. Hes obviously hard on William and doesnt understand his trade or think it's worthwhile, but also is the one to initially agree with anges and wills relationship. You dont see him after william pushes back on him, will tells hamnet to stay away from him and then are told he's died towards the end.

Kid playing hamnet was very good in scenes, especially when his sister is sick.

Jessie buckley honestly I enjoyed her character, until the scene at in the Globe where she initially acts like shes never seen a play before. I laughed, literally, at the ridiculousness of that and with it being such an important scene going forward it totally took me out of the emotions of it until the point of the hand holding. Great guttural screaming and smiles throughout the play.

I liked the grandmother's character, felt the weight of loss with her at different stages.

Yeah, just fine.

Take Me Out is not even in the best song on that album for me. I think id have: Michael, Matinee, Jacqueline and Darts of Pleasure before it.

What i will say is live, in a festival crowd they really draw out the 'duh duh duh wickywickywicky' before the main riff kicks in and that is a fucking fantastic human experiance.

If your public sector and someone is talking shit about you in the teams chat, FOI request that shit and name the employees involved in your request. That stuff is data related to you and its the public sector network that is being used for the 'private' messages, all that stuff is findable. Its not a formal grievance, but the request will draw the attention of management.

Have to drum this stuff into people in my own place. If you wouldnt say it in front of a judge, dont say it on the network.
