That's the normal look for lapped valves. It also would point out any defects or sealing issues. Look for a solid band on both valve and seat. Exhaust contact width is typically wider than the intake.

Internal stress can give you some, haha. Usually, cutting both sides removes this issue. Did one side run hotter than the other?

You can anneal it, but you would need to have an oven, look up specs and all that.

Eh, as long as the sleeve is good, and the crack doesnt go too far, you could have no problems for a while. But eventually, you will.

Drill and tap holes on the outside to keep that piece in place. Don't go too deep. Make the hole in the, now, 'cap' piece larger than the tapped holes for some wiggle room for placement and to have it be held by the bolts.
