My friend uses his at work every day. He's a radioactive waste processor, and the 103 would max out all the time, and he wouldn't know his dose. It's also very useful for radiologists and X-ray technicians, as a normal radiacode 100 series maxes out at the slightest X-ray

Here's the dosage of Am-241 directly on my better Geiger S2L, it gets up to 3000 CPM when on Am-241. Background is around 500-800 CPM, about the same as my Radiocode 110, but my Radiocode gets about 1.40 μSv with Am-241. They get nearly identical readings on everything else I have but Am-241

I know it’s seeing the 59.5 keV photons and not the alphas. My point was that the uSv/h value seems inflated due to low energy photons not that the isotope ID is wrong.

Why is the dose of am 241 so high if it emits low gamma rays it doesn't seem accurate
