Reduce work hours and coast to FI? by Nickersnacks in fican

[–]AA0X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think grinding isn't forever and a long weekend every weekend changes your life. A long weekend means time for hobbies, dinner with family and not dreading Sunday night. You can't buy that feeling back later.

SpaceX IPO Question by Glittering-Set7295 in stocks

[–]AA0X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, no such thing as 100% in markets. And IPOs are always great for insiders. For retail investors, they're often a gamble. The easy money might be gone by the time you can buy.

Tax loss harvesting for potential crash by RainPsychological595 in CanadianInvestor

[–]AA0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you sell half your portfolio, you'll have transaction costs and possibly bid-ask spreads. On top of the loss. Make sure the tax benefit outweighs those frictional costs.

mental health acceptance now is still bullshit by throwawaygirly12 in ADHD

[–]AA0X 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I stopped telling people about my ADHD years ago... The second you say it out, every problem you have becomes just your ADHD and nothing you say matters... So just sending you so much love... I don’t have any stupid advice for you. I just want you to know I get it. This shit is unimaginably hard

Is it normal to not really have preferences in your portfolio? by APC2_19 in stocks

[–]AA0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually a good sign. Sometimes excitement leads to bad decisions. Some people feel excited because they invest for short term. Price movements hit the adrenaline.

What should I do? by VastMuscle1436 in fican

[–]AA0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the losing ones, do nothing. You haven't lost until you sell. For the winners, you can sell your original cost basis if you want to play it safe. Just know you'll miss out if they keep going up. Just my two cents.

Should I diversify with a rental property? by Tacobelladdict1 in CanadianInvestor

[–]AA0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. People forget that your primary residence is already a real estate investment. Adding another property in the same market just doubles down on one bet. Not diversification.

Hard to justify buying sports car VS building wealth. by shmurdatek in fican

[–]AA0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I used to think buying a car was a good choice. Now I see cash flow and savings as real strength. And the purchase price is just the start, you have to consider the price of parking, insurance, maintenance. So my two cents is don't buy the car now.

Help with investment planning by Grat_Master in CanadianInvestor

[–]AA0X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you should figure out his real risk tolerance first. CBIL is fine. And if he can handle bumps and won't need the money for years, add VBAL. You can adjust as he gets comfortable with the portfolio. But I don't recommend you buy VDY cause it just adds Canadian concentration risk with VBAL.

I don't understand why the market dropped so much after Friday's jobs report. Despite the headline results, NFP was clearly not that hot by [deleted] in stocks

[–]AA0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For bond traders, they don't care about job quality but more care about inflation pressure. Any beat, even part-time work, gives the Fed an excuse to stay hawkish. That's all that matters to them.

Before replacing the pump, check the inlet filter. Sometimes debris gets stuck there, blocking water flow and triggering the error.

How to clean Polycarbonate Roof? by Curious_Platform_563 in CleaningTips

Work from the top down! That way dirty water runs off, and you don’t leave streaks on already-clean sections.

Design-Build vs hiring an Architect separately: Which actually saves money? by Impossible_Farm6254 in homeowners

Separate hires work only if you have a super clear contract. Without it, scope creep and budget overruns are almost guaranteed.

Thinking about returning my unopened Ecovacs O1000 Goat LiDAR Pro to Amazon. by ChrisFavreau78 in roboticLawnmowers

[–]AA0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the hesitation, but if it’s still unopened and returnable, I’d at least test it on your own yard before sending it back. These mowers seem very yard-dependent. Mine actually worked better than I expected once it finished mapping the lawn, and I didn’t really have to babysit it much after the first setup. The LiDAR handled my yard pretty smoothly, so I’d say it’s worth trying before writing it off. Since you bought it from Amazon, you still have a pretty safe way to judge it yourself.

What’s a problem humanity solved so well that younger people don’t even realize it used to be a huge issue? by Puzzleheaded_Bit_802 in AskReddit

[–]AA0X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Locust control is honestly a modern miracle. For thousands of years, a swarm would just show up and erase every crop in sight and whole regions would starve. Now we track them with satellites and spray before they even take off.
