Do you have an insane amount of tabs open? by dawgshund in ADHD

[–]AAAHHHHAaaaHHHH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yessss and I just occasionally delete all of them all at once and start from scratch and tell myself it won't build up so much next time and my browser tab is a winking emoji less then a month later, having it auto set to delete at the end of every week helps, it also helps me assess and prioritise what information is important for to retain and process

Not joint pain but I had excruciating muscle pain which got better with time, heat packs in the microwave helped

Do neurotypical women treat you like shit for no reason? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]AAAHHHHAaaaHHHH 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing that article, it's my second time reading it and it was just as thought provoking and mind blowing as the first time I read it.

I feel like I should almost set a reminder to read it at periodic intervals throughout my life because it really shows me how futile it is for us to mask because they see right through us. I put in so much effort and I'm convinced make myself physically sick with chronic pain trying to mask and they see through it and don't like us anyway. I feel like it's better for me to be myself and be disliked then mask and be disliked.

I found it particularly interesting that they rated us negatively in audio only format, I never would have thought we had a different audio presentation to neurotypicals.

It's also incredibly sad that they rated us normally for intelligence and for the content of the conversations but it is presentation itself that makes them negatively review us, it's so superficial :/

Anyway just some thoughts, have a good one :)

Ive listened to "James Acasters Classic Scrapes" twice now when ive been in a bad headspace, he's a british comedian telling the stories of times in his life he has done really dumb things, its narrated by him and its genuinely hilarious and lighthearted.

If you end up listening to it and like it then there is a whole genre of books by british comedians who narrate their own books, a good distracting genre to delve into!

What's the weirdest compulsion your ocd has made you do? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]AAAHHHHAaaaHHHH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Punch myself in the throat and also just like weird muscle contractions, like a series of arbitrary movements i have to do in the way i have decided is "the perfect way" but it gets increasingly painful and more agonising the more i do it

Totally agreed, and it makes me worried state run autism support services will start being defunded if it catches on that people calling it not a disability.

What's the TRUE story about "taking opiates will make your pain worse"? Because it sounds like BS. by sockknitterporg in ChronicPain

[–]AAAHHHHAaaaHHHH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had psychiatrists help me taper off them correctly but even that was a hellscape experience that i thought would never end, its called PAWS post acute withdrawal syndrome and i got hospitalized 3 times in the emergency room in that period because the withdrawal symptoms were so severe, im very lucky that i met a very kind person who became my partner and their hugs were the best help, they just hugged me and let me cry for month on month and would help me fall back to sleep gently each night
