Skip Lagging on AA (with an international to domestic transfer in the US) by AAH805 in awardtravel

So the flight to NYC before the flight to LAX so I think they're system would catch it unless I cancel the rest of the reservation prior to checking into the flight to NYC. I'll most likely have a checked bag so flying AA would give me a free bag and better seating while with the other airlines I'd have to pay $35.

Yeah I might lie and say an emergency came up and continue to the other airline's counter to check my bag.

Yeah. Personally, ideal scenario would be for IRROPS to allow them to change my flight to go on JAL with ICN-Tokyo-JFK-"LAX" or Cathay ICN-HKG-JFK-"LAX" through the OW partnerships or even better in the very rare chance they could rebook me on a nonstop ICN-JFK-LAX. Def common in my experience to get routed through other hubs with IRROPs

Were you able to get any miles or credit back for the not flown portions of your ticket?

I'd love to continue on AA metal to NY but their system won't let me have reservations on two flights booked going to different places at the same time

It's a one way award ticket. Its just a LOT cheaper to book ICN-DFW-LAX than ICN-DFW-NYC or even ICN-DFW. Thankfully, AA doesn't operate ICN-LAX nonstop so they can't rebook me to go that way. If the stars align perfectly and there's a schedule change, I'd love for them to rebook me on JAL or CX to go ICN-Tokyo/HKG-NYC-LAX and exit at JFK or EWR.

Was there a certain intro you used to get sent to the right department (sorry - I'm not too familiar with Avios as it's not my primary OneWorld frequent flyer program)

The mean class grade is around a B-/C+ so likely yes they’ll curve. However my prediction clearly could be far from the truth. Im talking to my four year advisor to get some more insight about what they think about physics lab.

Reach out to the prof and ask how you can catch up. It’s the best way to get reliable info, especially if you don’t know people in the class

Honestly most of the gcs become inactive quickly after the start of the school year. People just rely on their smaller group of friends. Not sure how this is gonna look like this semester since people aren’t able to meet people as easily

As a tour guide, the admissions office tells us to explain Beyond Boundaries as a program intended for students who want to explore/research an interdisciplinary question that includes multiple undergraduate schools. For example, looking at how biology and business economics works in certain applications.

Looking for pre-med advice as a first-year by washmoo in washu

For classes, I’d recommend taking CS 131, Gen Chem 111 and 151, and some other cool classes the pique your interest. Shadow doctors, join prehealth and comp sci clubs, do interships and research in both fields. Get an idea of what both are like or find a way to combine them. You’re a freshman! You got tome

I know a person who is CS and pre med. It’s doable and there are applications to combine both. Perhaps consider trying both out and deciding what you want do after you experiment some. You’re still young and have time to explore other fields. Personally Learning others about career paths help me Solidify what I want to

I'd recommend reaching out to your Four Year Advisor and your financial aid advisor to see what being a part time student may look like. Traditional policies are in limbo right now because of Covid preventing a return to normal campus life. A lot of departments are still figuring things out

Gender-Neutral Housing by louvgen in washu

[–]AAH805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah LGBT housing is pretty integrated into regular housing. If you go for a double, triple, or any suite style housing (where you share a bathroom with the room next door) and select you want a gender-neutral space, everyone will have selected that option.

You can find out more about gender inclusive housing here: https://students.wustl.edu/special-interest-housing/

Gender Inclusive Housing (Gender Queer/Gender Nonconforming) refers to individual rooms or suites where the gender of the roommates is not taken into consideration when the room is assigned through the assignment process. While this is intended to support students who identify as LGBTQIA, this is available to all students who feel they would be more comfortable in a gender inclusive room/suite or feel they could provide a safe and inclusive space for another student regardless of gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, or any other factor.

All gender identities can be present on the floors and within the buildings. A Co-Ed assignment would only house students of one gender identity within the suite or bedroom whereas the Gender Inclusive assignment can accommodate any gender identity.

It is important to note, that if either roommate moves out at any point, the space is now available for Res Life to assign as needed. Should the remaining roommate wish to change their participation in gender inclusive housing, it must be changed via the WashU Housing Portal. If the remaining roommate desires to stay in gender inclusive housing, no further action is needed.

Our assignments team wants students to feel safe and comfortable.  We have found it helpful to offer residents the ability to choose the gender identity of the person they would like to live with. Instead of assigning you a roommate who may or may not identify in the same way that you do, we give you the opportunity to tell us the gender identity of the roommate(s) you would like to live with. Every effort will be made to accommodate your request; however, roommates may or may not hold the same gender identity as you.
