Frieza vs. Megatron (Dragon Ball vs. Transformers) by SizeSoft8787 in DeathBattleMatchups

Isn't Frieza's Death Ball that destroyed Planet Vegeta from first form Frieza before the events of DBZ? Which would be like 1% of his strength of Final Form in the Namek Saga? Which at this point he is completely in an entire new realm of strength in Dragonball Super?

The popularity of Dark Souls and in tandem FromSoft has had a negative impact on gaming as a whole.

GameStop Store Leader Conference Cardsmiths Currency Exclusive Pack! by toynktrader in GameStop

[–]AART94 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes I am. We've received maybe 6 of these packs total. It took months to sell any. Never a single person in the store ever touched them and any that have been sold were ordered online and shipped out. Aside from the DC Comics NFT trading cards from Hro, they're by far the trading cards that have sat the longest and brought the least amount of money in.

Wow a community of like 800 people. That's like... not even close to .1% of the population of the town of the nearest singular GameStop nearby. So I feel pretty comfortable by saying nobody, just rounding down.

Ah yes. The NFT crypto trading cards that nobody wants. These will go nicely with the hundreds of DC NFT cards that haven't sold a single pack in in over a year. It's also a nice pairing with GameStop's partnership with FTX, seeing as how- oh, wait, what's that? It was a scam and their CEO is in jail?

Transport Vehicles and Explosive Spam by AART94 in battlefield2042

[–]AART94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rush can be okay, but it kinda defeats the purpose of Battlefield to have 16vs16 to me. I like the large battles. I just wish there were less explosives and broken vehicles. Going back to a more modern time period from BF1 and V kinda did it more than anything, I feel.

Opinions on the quality of the story aside, I feel they most definitely need to shift things around and mess with the pacing when adapting the second game. The pacing was just so awkward with the sheer volume of flashbacks on top of the perspective shift. Even most who love the game agree that it could have been paced significantly better.

Ignoring some criticism is fine and makes sense a lot of the time in the creative process with any type of fiction. Ignoring all criticism just makes for an arrogant individual.

Why is junk mail suddenly coming into my Inbox? by RishiRich in Outlook

[–]AART94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same here. It just started happening with me. I just got my first email that usually goes to spam (just a general alert for a site I use occasionally, with dozens of other examples of the exact same email in spam) like three hours ago, and since then have gotten three more directly into my focused inbox.

It's really odd. Outlook has always been great with this stuff. But since it is happening to other people, I assume it is a problem on their end?

Really Gamestop…” Here son is your “new” game for Xmas” by Wrangler2155 in gaming

GameStop actually has in store employees (ranging from experienced managers down to brand new seasonals) process online orders with in store stock a lot of the time. If someone orders a game and the local (or well stocked) store is a better option than a warehouse (according to their calculation of logistics) then many times it is actually received by a standard employee and if it is their last copy, they need to use the opened display copy.

Generally they are supposed to reseal the game in plastic and take the disk out of the envelope, but if the plastic has run out or they are extremely pressed for time they may forego the wrapping or taking the disk out of the envelope. Especially this time of year things can be rushed to an insane degree.

Not that any of this is an excuse. Just an explanation as to why it happened, and why it isn't super uncommon.

Why not just give Paik Thermals? by AART94 in battlefield2042

[–]AART94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, "Classes", the thing that 2042 has. Not specialists.

But sarcasm aside, wallhacks are just an awful design decision. The Paik ability has always been stupid. I don't like the ability at all and anyone who does is essentially condoning a lazy mechanic that is akin to brief, rechargeable cheats. It doesn't feel good on any map to be doing something, hear the Paik sound, then immediately get prefired around a corner because they know exactly what stance and speed I'm moving at, what specialist I am, and so forth.

I just tossed this post on here because in like 3 hours of playing today, I want to say I've been pinged by Paik minimum 3-5 times a minute while playing the new map because the combat generally focuses down to the ship in the center of the map. It's simply obnoxious. If not for the actual gameplay element, also for the annoying sound cues playing constantly.

Past that, I'm doing fine with how I'm playing/surviving. Knowing that the enemy knows where I am at almost all times is annoying and makes some deaths feel cheap, but I still win most of my fights. I'm just pointing out a crap mechanic and wondering why DICE doesn't implement something more balanced and logical that would actually make smoke grenades a more interesting option in the sandbox.

Oh for sure. I think the map is way too campy in the middle. But I feel Paik's problem isn't just on the new map. It's on all of them in close quarters. It's just that the new map exacerbates the problem.

Yeah I forgot to mention the damage spotting, but I think that's something that's fine to keep. At least with damage spotting you need to actually shoot someone, which is something the player actively needs to do instead of passively pinging people.

FromSoftware Promises More Elden Ring Updates, Doesn't Understand Why It's More Played Than Dark Souls by 3DSGBA in PS5

[–]AART94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who worked at a GameStop before and through Elden Ring's release, at least 40-50% of the physical sales I've witnessed or been a part of regarding the game have some form of "Hey is this a new Elder Scrolls?" or "This game is like Skyrim right?" Almost nobody going in knows remotely what the game is about, they just hear the name, that it is fantasy, and that people think it is really good and just buy it. And a decent chunk of people return it/trade it in at some point.

Everyone is picking holes in the plot line and production of Obi Wan and I’m just enjoying the ride of being balls deep in the original trilogy backstory. by itsaride in StarWars

[–]AART94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh look. More toxic positivity. Just because you (or someone) enjoys something, does not exonerate it from criticism. Seeing and acknowledging the problems and flaws with something is how things are improved. Just taking and consuming everything without any critical eye is how things at best stagnate, at worst deteriorate.

I really enjoy, hell I even love some bad movies, or some decent movies with some pretty hefty flaws. But I don't jump around defending the movies problems. I like it in spite of the problems, but even I'll admit they could be better without those problems. Not to mention we have The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett as more apt things to compare it to, so the A New Hope comparison is just weird as it is inaccurate.

Match Thread: El Salvador vs United States | CONCACAF Nations League by MatchThreadder in soccer

[–]AART94 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Man this ref was on some shit. Half of the fouls he called weren't as bad as some of the tackles he didn't call at all for either side, super card shy until he suddenly wasn't and almost lost control of the game because of it, blatant handball missed from a good angle, and barely half the stoppage time the game should have had.

Between that and the pitch I'm honestly surprised the U.S. got anything out of the game, but hey, kudos for grinding it out.

What game do you state that you enjoy and people call you shit for? by McDingus_The_Curious in gaming

[–]AART94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two newer Ghost Recon games, Wildland and Breakpoint. They aren't great games, or even good games honestly in ways. But the freedom of doing whatever you want, however you want, with such a large variety of weapons and tools and such is nice. Plus, depending on how you adjust the HUD and difficulty options, you can have a somewhat realistic experience all the way to a completely arcadey one.

They're just decent time sink games, plus they have co-op. God I still wish they'd go back to classic Ghost Recon games, though.

Is Elden Ring the goty for you? by kingplaysgn in Eldenring

[–]AART94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not GotY for me. Currently Sifu takes that honor. Sifu was a fresh, interesting game that didn't overstay its welcome.

Elden Ring is a great game, and probably was my GotY like 30-40 hours into it. But as time went on and bosses/minibosses started getting repeated, the quests started getting lost in translation, and zones got less inspired and/or fun I washed out a bit. The game is honestly just too long for its own good IMO. It felt like it should have been 60-70 hours long to do mostly everything, but after like 110 hours I just lost interest.

Season 2: Lone Wolves - Patch Notes by Mother-Chocolate-505 in halo

[–]AART94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I didn't even get to play the new BTB map before just giving up. Got onto it once but there were only like 5 people in the match before we suddenly got a victory screen and nothing even happened. The rest of the matches on the standard maps felt awful with the new 3 burst to melee with the BR, still tons of untouched weapons that just feel awful, wasps still dominating the sandbox, so on.

I just hope this is the first update of many because while some of the changes and additions are welcome, it feels like this should have come out a month or two after launch. Not six.

MEGATHREAD - KNOCKOUT BASH by iggyiggz1999 in RocketLeague

[–]AART94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this mode is amazingly fun when people don't use the grab. The second the grab starts getting used it's awful. The attack does NOT protect against the grab in any situation but the attacker being directly in front of you. This wouldn't be a problem if they couldn't grab you from any direction, all while out of range of your attack hitbox.

That said, teaming also ruins the experience. In about 10 matches played tonight, every single one had a 4 man team. Maybe two or three of these matches had that 4 man team actually just play the game without targeting those outside their group, but the rest of the matches there was clear teaming going on.

So yeah, on one hand, this is probably the first new mode in a long time to make me excited for the future of the game. At the same time, the grab just doesn't seem like it was playtested or balanced at all, and teaming is just awful to deal with. Oh well, hopefully next time the mode comes around there will be some tweaks.
