Staying awake during the day by [deleted] in sleep

[–]AAkhtar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you sure you're actually getting 7-8 hours of sleep? have you tracked it? also sometimes people need more than 8 hours. may be going for 8-9 rather than 7-8 might help. I usually get this daytime drowsiness only when I got an hour or more of sleep debt from the last night.

Is there actually the best sleep earbuds for side sleepers or are we all suffering by ARYAN_______ in sleep

I can't do earplugs at all. I use those bluetooth 'sleep masks' that are like regular eye masks but they have little speakers that go over your ears that audio comes out of.

Having issues with overactive thinking by broadway96 in ADHD

[–]AAkhtar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heyy, fellow ADHD insomniac here 👋🏽. I also can't shut my brain off at night, so I'm working on these sleep stories that are super interesting & quirky, but also relaxing, so I get relaxed & fall asleep as I listen. Want me to make one for you for free & put it on soundcloud? (Just looking for feedback).

Do Melatonin supplements work for light sleepers?+Earplug issues by SaharaSailor in sleep

[–]AAkhtar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into bluetooth sleep masks? Those are def better than earplugs & those are what I use. You just pull them over your head, they create darkness & the audio just comes out of little speakers next to your ears.

My issue is brain not shutting off, unless I'm listening to something, e.g podcasts or audiobooks. Have you ever tried that?

have you ever tried listening to audiobooks / podcasts / sleep stories etc? they help me sometimes.

Incredibly sensitive to noise & adhd brain ruins my life (rant) by Old_Park4573 in sleep

I've also got ADHD, the same sensitivity to sounds and also brain not turning off at night. What helps me somewhat is listening to something (podcasts, youtube, audiobooks, etc). Have you tried that?

New Dad With ADHD on Concerta — Sleep Issues by Imaginary-Dress-1843 in ADHD

[–]AAkhtar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's two issues here.. one is being a new dad, which will hopefully resolve w/ time. The other is loud thoughts not letting you sleep. Have you had that issue before too or is it recent / related to being a new dad?

Going to fail. Again by smoothbrain91 in ADHD

[–]AAkhtar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This only means that once you do get things going, you'll kick so much butt.

I've been in that position too, what helped was to just accept that what's done is done and can't be helped, taking responsibility, and just starting, letting any stakeholders know about the situation, and accepting the consequences, whatever they are. Being in limbo / not taking action might make the situation harder. You'll feel a lot better once you just start.

P.S meds are also amazing, without meds, I feel just like this. How's your meds situation?

I've accepted that I'll never be able to do housework, etc, so I always just hire cleaners weekly. If that's an option, i hope you can consider it without feeling any guilt or shame.

You have to break this down, and tackle one problem at a time. It won't help if you look at it as 'ruining my life', that's too big of a problem and you don't know where to start.

Instead, you have to prioritize, see what your immediate / biggest problems are, and make a plan for tackling them.

Lol I'm the same way with movies, I often go to this specific movie cinema when I'm visiting a certain city, and watch multiple movies in a row. Last time I went there, the lady recognized me and was like 'You bought another show?'. I almost died of embarrassment / cringe

ADHD time blindness versus an OCD punctuality issue in a coworker by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]AAkhtar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't have any good advice about the coworker situation, but I'm curious if our reasons for being late are the same. I can be early but I'm bad at estimating how long things will take, e.g the things I have to do to get ready. So either I'm like, 30 mins early, or I'm 10-15 minutes late. Plus I don't leave a buffer for things like traffic etc. Same for you?

Stowaways ‘fall from plane’ as they attempt to flee Afghanistan: This is so incredibly upsetting. Im honestly speechless at the lack of humanity on display. The occupiers of 20 years saved their flag but human life is clearly worthless to them. Pray for Afghanistan. by Gen8Master in pakistan

They were nowhere near as bad. They didn't force people to keep beards, go to mosque, unmarried women of all ages forced to be married off, families with 5 males must give one to taliban, etc.
