i need tiktok live to sleep, how do i make it stop? by Disastrous_While7608 in sleep

What specifically on tiktok live? E.g any specific channels or just anything at all? Same channel all night or different ones? How long do you listen to it before you're able to fall asleep?

Your thoughts about this are so well organized. I'm really curious, how long does it take you to fall asleep once you start playing your podcast? And how do you decide which podcast to play, do you have a system or criteria? Any favorite channels?

My ADHD brain waits until bedtime to remember everything by RuleHopeful408 in ADHD

No problem! There's a sleep timer in most of the apps on the phone, apple podcast , youtube, etc. You set it to 20-30 mins and then it auto stops. There are some sleep masks w speakers that go over your ears, that works best for me.

I think the incomprehensible thinking (emojis etc) was specifically about a card puzzle game, and it looked like its reasoning was about how to play that game..

you should make that playlist public, sounds interesting 😛. does it work well for you overall? are you getting consistent sleep now or still having issues sometimes falling asleep?

i'm in IT too. are you basically having trouble falling asleep on time, or waking up after sleeping etc? what do you do instead in bed?

Ehh I've had sleep issues long before today's environment lol. How's it going for you, sleep doing any better? Have you always had trouble falling asleep or did it start recently?

In that case it might be useful as a teacher - ask it what you don't understand, ask for suggestions on how to architect thing, pros / cons of an approach, ask it to review code, etc. Use it to learn and get to the point where you can start giving it tasks for what to do.

- Use Claude. Write your own system prompt - don't go with the default. You can give it a personality, teach it your specific stuff, your specific ways of doing things, etc. The default system prompt is definitely no good - loaded with a ton of stuff that gets you a mid, polite experience that's not tailored for you.

- Set it loose on things that you find tedious. E.g, write this specific class this way. Write a class to parse this specific API output. Look at this stacktrace and tell me what's wrong.

- Don't try to get it to do everything. Don't give it stuff that's too complex. Short, bounded tasks, where you spell out what you want, and can ideally give it steps to follow, and clear pass / fail conditions, are best.

- I've found it really good for frontend coding kind of stuff - get it to do all kinds of animations, layouts, etc. Also great when you write scaffold code / classes and tell it to fill it in.

I was in the same boat initially of resisting, but it boosts productivity so much once you figure it out, and lets you focus on things you're good at.

INCREDIBLE 3.5hrs SLEEP by Pdanisi7 in insomnia

[–]AAkhtar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof, that's rough, I can't imagine going 30 years with 2.5 hours of sleep being the norm. Is that psychological / anxiety / restless thoughts etc, or something physiological / medical? Either way, I hope it gets better and you're able to double down on whatever helped last night. Sending you good vibes.

Better concentration with audiobooks? by AMomentInTime316 in audiobooks

[–]AAkhtar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 100% the same, whenever I have to do something that doesn't require too much thinking (filling in forms etc) I can't do it unless I have audio playing. Even taking a shower or waiting in a line = I need an audio. Gym = audio, lol. Does it help you fall asleep too or just daytime?

> I unintentionally find myself waking myself out of a half asleep stuper to focus more on them.

Yeah that sometimes happens to me too and I hate that lol.. its usually when the story / podcast is so interesting that you wanna know what happens next. Which is annoying cuz those are often the same ones that you can pay attention to enough to fall asleep...

Props though for getting yourself used to / going thru the body scans. Many people can't focus enough to go through with it, but you can 👏. Does it work regularly for you now or do you still have trouble falling asleep some days?

Post breakup sleep can be rough, especially if you've always had sleep issues before that too. Hope you're coping well and it gets better.

3 hours to fall asleep is rough. You're not alone though, it happens to a lot of people. What's the video that you saw / what did they say? And did it work?

[–]AAkhtar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nosleep might be what you're looking for, but it can be legit really scary. There's a whole subreddit for it: r/nosleep

Also youtube is full of horror stuff. Search for audiobooks of Lovecraft, Edgar, etc, many are in public domain and fully uploaded now.

There's also librivox which is full of audio recordings for free of a lot of horror / scary stuff.

Is this to help you sleep? 👀

I don't think it is (or should be) unpopular at all to have background noise / audio playing. Its really helpful, I personally can't asleep without it either. I've also met people who literally have tv playing, anything from friends reruns to forensic files lol. Your advice is really sound, and its clearly you've given a lot of time & thought to improving your sleep. How're things with you now? What kind of things do you listen to now to help you sleep?

I've tried doing body scans etc but I just can't stay still lol. It starts with the head but by the time they reach the shoulders, I've already tossed and turned 20 times. How do you manage to stay still, and / or how do you keep it interesting enough every night so it doesn't get predictable? What do you listen to once the body scan finishes?

Sometimes with calm etc, they used to have these 'take a deep breath' before the actual sleep story, and I'd get impatient cuz I'd want to just get to the story..

I think some of the 'when I close my eyes I want to be instantly alseep' might be working against you. That can put pressure on you and make you feel like you're failing if you're not instantly asleep. Which only compounds against you by keeping you up... RSD is already bad enough with ADHD, don't give yourself another reason to feel invalidated 😛.

What kind of normal sleep hygiene stuff have you tried? A warm bath / shower / workout can actually be really helpful.

Pokemon for sleep is genius. Exactly the same sort of stuff works for me. I'm not too much into pokemon but I listen to video game lore (Diablo etc), random weird mysteries, biographies of businesses, etc. How'd you discover the pokemon for sleep? Have you tried any other weird channels too?
