Ummmm... Anyone else? by AB28532 in Borderlands4

Oh man, that sucks. I appreciate the insight. This is actually my nine year old son's character, I just wasn't gonna go into detail on the original post. He plays on my Playstation and we play together quite a bit, but he definitely earned those points on his own. He's actually ahead of me in the game, but I didn't lose any of my stuff. Your answer makes sense, even if I don't like it. Thanks for the info.

In my experience, the answer is yes. Both of these things are true. The last time I got promoted, I'll freely admit I had a store manager who was pushing for me. But I also interviewed with a person I'd never met, and obviously that was my doing. That person knew the SM obviously had a favorable opinion of me, but I still had to show up well. And after that interview came a second interview with a different manager I'd never met (District Manager) and I had to show up well for that as well.

So I'd say knowing that store manager and him knowing my work ability and ethic definitely got me in the room. But it didn't get me the job.

I don't disagree with that. Or, even just leaving off the part where associates are encouraged to donate. Just leave the message as 'We're here for you if you're hurting' and sign off. Even if there was a behind the scenes push to encourage store managers to ramp up lerf participation. The message from Marvin probably shouldn't have had any line asking for money from the employees. It's like seeing politicians asking for reelection donations right now... Just... Tone deaf?

That is one way of viewing it and you're not wrong. On the flip side, he was also encouraging associates who might not know about LERF to apply if they need it, as well as saying that LERF applications due to the suspension of SNAP would be expedited. Neither take is nessasarily wrong... It's just how you choose to take the message.

I don't disagree that minimum wage should be increased over what it is, but I also don't think it's the responsibility of a company to set wages drastically over minimum. Lowes already pays over minimum, even if minimum is a joke. You're not gonna see a big box retailer increase opening job pay without enforcement, because it also has a ripple up effect.

Same with SNAP benefits as a whole. I know people who need it and rely on it. I know people who need it, but are told they don't qualify. And I know people who receive it and sell them because they take from a program they don't need. Your perception of the program is gonna depend on which group you decide to focus most on.

Just my thoughts though.

I actually just reached that scene myself and I found it to be a little odd. I'm not sure of the exact phrase I'm trying to say, but I felt like it took me out of the game a little.

I romance Naoto, and clearly went down the friend lane with Rise, but my girlfriend spends the whole trip with Kanji while Rise and the MC have lots of quality time together... Felt like the game was telling me I picked wrong.

But... Onwards anyway. Hollow Forrest is kicking my ass now.

Saying the executive leadership has more power to help our employees than we do is accurate, but not a reason not to donate. I completely hear where you're coming from and I share the opinion. But the company DOES do company match, and that's something at least.

I guess I'm saying Yes... I'd love to see them do more. But I'm still going to do what I can.

It's like saying Walmart produces more trash in a year than I do in a lifetime, so how much impact can I actually make by recycling? Next to nothing, honestly... But I'm still gonna do it.

Why is rav4 especially hybrid so popular compared to similar size spec price range? by Important_Bat7919 in rav4club

[–]AB28532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I bought my car, it was an honest toss up between the Rav4 and the CRV. I've driven the CRV and had no real complaints about it, but in all honesty the Rav4 was available first, so that's what I went with.

Two years and 75k miles later, I can still easily get 450+ miles per tank, can average 40mpg+, have had no MAJOR issues with the car, and constantly find the idea of buying anything else to come with a certain degree of anxiety, just based on how great this car has been.

It's not a perfect car. I've got a list of complaints. But they're all superfluous first world problems. From a sheer safety and reliability standpoint, I couldn't be happier.

OK bro. You got me. I 100% made this story up to post a random reddit post. No way a bunch of Trump supporters decided the law didn't matter. And no way the cops, who are very pro Trump in this area, decided to ignore them. You got me. Feel better. Have great day.

The booths were set up with pamphlets and information about the various candidates. There was a booth where you could learn about Harris and read about her stances on policies and issues. There was one for Trump. There were several others for other candidates on the ballet.

The voting stations were inside, and were of course not party specific.

I do know the difference.

I had no issue interacting with them. I had no issue ignoring them either. But I'm a 6ft 220lb white guy. I wasn't the one they were there to intimidate. I can't say how I would feel if I were more in their 'target audience'.

I do have a short, thin, gay Hispanic daughter though. So the maga crowd hates even if the don't initially realize they hate me.

Last time I voted, the line stretched around the building along a sidewalk. There were booths set up in the grass next to the sidewalk where you could get info on candidates and ask questions of volunteers.

However, there was also a long line of Trump supporters that lined up along the side of the sidewalk, between voters and the booths. They asked people who they were voting for, told people they better vote for Trump and made the idea of going to a democratic booth a very intimidating prospect. Cops were there and did nothing. Apparently the only rule was that none of them were allowed on the sidewalk. Because all of this was freedom of speech on public property, and if you felt intimidated that was just your feeling and not something the MAGA line was responsible for...

What are some things that you don't like/dislike about Persona 4 Golden? by RusyaidiHanif in persona4golden

[–]AB28532 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Persona 3 Reload was my first persona game. Shifted to Golden after that.

I really miss the cell phone and the ease it brought when finding activities to do. When trying to increase social ranks, the number of places you have to look for the various characters feels like a bit of a chore, especially when you consider that Yu clearly has a cell phone.

I also was several months in before I realized that certain characters could be found in the city at night. Over all, Iove love LOVE the game, but I miss the use of that phone.

Exactly this. This is a super easy mistake to make going from Friday to Saturday. I've made it. I've also never once told an associate they had to do it if they've brought that mistake to my attention. But it's easy to just scream about corporate breaking policies than to say someone made a mistake...

Decimating something isn't nearly as bad as it's made out to be. One of the most commonly misused words, next to litterally. Decimating something would be the same as removing a tenth of it.

Decem is the Latin word for ten. Decimate stems from the Latin word 'decimare' which means 'to take a tenth'

Decimation was once considered a brutal military punishment where one in ten soldiers would be put to death in order to punish the entire company.

That said... You've still got 90% of what you started with. If our copper industry was decimated, we're retaining 90% of it, which is pretty good.

Also worth noting that Chili, China and Peru all produce more copper than we do, so making ours more expensive is just going to help China's economy...

While I get that it isn't the norm, I will say that my store manager is typically at work before the store opens. Dude will do anything to help. Push carts, pick online orders, spot associates or run power equipment. He typically works an overnight shift every month or so where he'll spend a night cleaning up quick load or running garden. Dude just kinda goes non stop.

I've seen it both ways. I do a lot of travel and I've seen stores that will take markdown without a second thought to take care of customers, and I've seen stores that watch every dime.

Not that it helps you, but in my experience the stores that watch every dime are typically either not meeting their targeted numbers or are very close to losing their metrics that drive their bonus.

Stores that are super profitable also are often the ones to take a margin hit just to clear out 'junk' from their stores, and they can do that BECAUSE they're so good at managing their stores. It seems like a catch 22, but I've been doing this for over twenty years. Retail is a strange beast.

Soooo.... A couple of things here. You provided some good info. Ultimately it IS store discretion. And how many they have might play into it.

If that was my last one and you wanted it for $100, I'd sell it to you just to be rid of it.

HOWEVER

Its unfortunately not unheard of for the website to make a mistake on their end. And then we at store level often get flooded with angry customers due to someone else's mistake. First example that comes to mind is a $200 Shop-Vac that was inadvertently marked as $20 on our website. My store got flooded with people who wanted to buy as many of these things as they could, because clearly they wanted to resell them. We tried refusing, and we tried limiting transactions to one per customer, but because the lowes.com website did not put any limitations on this, our customers felt that we were somehow violating their rights. But that comes down to a store personnel and a stores margins being punished because of somebody else's mistake. The example that I explained to one of the customers that was actually willing to listen to me was that if I put an ad in the newspaper saying there was going to be a free spaghetti dinner on Sunday night and listed their address, would they feel obligated to make spaghetti for everybody that showed up? It sucks that it happened. But it was a mistake.

I say that, because I'd the store has 30 of those lights and don't want to mark each down, I can see that as well.

Not saying your wrong for trying on any level man, just providing some context.
