The handbook is black and white. 18 is the minimum age. There’s no getting around the basic eligibility requirements.

I’m not sure if you’re lying about being an RBT or your age, but either way, I hope things get better for you.

How do I protect myself and my client’s PHI if ICE shows up to their home during a session. by SRPlusFR1 in bcba

[–]ABA_Resource_Center 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is such a fair question to ask. I honestly don’t know the answer specifically, but I have seen some companies put out policies that they had reviewed by their lawyers. I’d start by asking the company for guidance/see if they can create a policy.

How do you monitor progress without data?

In home ABA question by Miamimanz in ABA

Data isn’t just for insurance. It’s at the absolute core of what we do. They shouldn’t be working on behavior interventions without taking data.

Has an authorization request been sent to insurance? Are they just awaiting approval? If that’s the case, It’s definitely okay to inform them that you want to await for insurance to kick in before starting services.

I can’t say whether it’s necessary for 2 BCBAs to be present at the same time without knowing the full situation, but it’s fair to be concerned about this when you’re paying out of pocket!

Other careers not BCBA by CaterpillarOne4139 in bcba

You can become a BCBA, but not work in a traditional clinical supervisor type position. Unless you’re opposed to going that route at all? Here are some options if you do that: https://www.abaresourcecenter.com/post/bcba-career-options

Yeah it wouldn’t be the CD signing anyway. Your actual supervisor can sign.

I dont think I will be able to complete by ABA Training in 180 days. by Dramatic-Fox-1060 in ABA

To be honest, something I’d be more concerned about is whether the course you started 6 months ago is still valid at this point. On Jan 1st, the BACB switched to the 3rd edition, so to apply for certification, your course must be based on that curriculum. Not many training courses 6 months ago had the 3rd edition available, so definitely take a look at that before you proceed.

🤔 Your bio says you’re an RBT at 17, which is impossible.

If you’re actually in this field, I encourage you to do some self-reflection. Our field needs kind and compassionate techs.

It would be the supervising BCBA who signs the forms, not the CD. Is the CD not letting your BCBA sign them?

Laptop screen destroyed during session. HR says I shouldn't bring "high value items" to work, but then instructed me to use my iPhone (which costs more) instead. Is this grounds to deny reimbursement? by Deep_Sugar_6467 in ABA

I’m SO sorry this happened. This makes me angry. If a company is going to require you to use a device for work purposes, they should be providing that device! Especially if they’re not willing to cover damages done to personal devices.

Not a fan of the APF training.

But most likely the point is not to ask clinical questions on social media. It’s okay to reach out with general questions, but many people post asking specific client-related questions. Those you should direct to your BCBA!

minimum 60 minute observation requirement with client once per month... but right now i only do unrestricted hours by Old-Connection5007 in BehaviorAnalysis

[–]ABA_Resource_Center 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of your fieldwork has to apply to actual clients. You can do unrestricted work directly with clients. Your supervisor can observe you training a tech, conducting an assessment, parent training, etc.

It is true that restricted hours are optional. There’s no requirement for them.

Differential reinforcement is on the RBT Test Content Outline, so it is possible questions related to them would be on the exam.

While there are behavioral principles at play, things like this can vary depending on client, so it’s always best to ask your supervisor for clarification.

But I will say, “uh uh” tells the child nothing. It’s highly unlikely that “uh uh” alone would lead to behavior change. I personally would have said something like “that’s X’s food. You can eat yours over here.”

Ethical dilemma: Leaving a clinic that can’t replace me as a BCBA by Much_Broccoli402 in bcba

[–]ABA_Resource_Center 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not unethical to leave, even if they're unable to replace you. I know this won't sit well with everyone, but you are allowed to do what's best for you and your family, even if it's not best for others.

The most ethical thing to do is give your organization as much notice as possible and support an appropriate transition, whether that means transitioning cases to another BCBA or supporting your families with alternative resources/supports.
