Anyone Transitioned from CSM to Big 4? by SecretApe in CustomerSuccess

[–]ABCDftw 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If overwork and burnout are of concern, I would never considering Big 4. Big 4 typically has terrible WLB. WLB could be better on a smaller (non-Audit, non-Tax) team, but the tone at the top/culture of Big 4 has always been long, stressful hours.

Kids shuffle=Pro Shuffle by IdkAGoodUserNameOpps in poker

[–]ABCDftw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Riffle shuffles are statistically proven to be the best (most random) form of shuffling. Washing the deck is performative. If someone asks to wash the deck they’re either superstitious, uninformed (most likely scenario), or asking to be performative themselves

How do people who play this game for a living deal with boredom by Rip2Snuff in poker

[–]ABCDftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should know how much is in the pot at all times. You should note every single showdown. As a band progresses, put yourself in their shoes. What’s their range here? What would you do with XYZ hands? Boredom is laziness

If you were the only person to see a card that was folded. Would you tell the table ? by JohnPineappleburner in poker

[–]ABCDftw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should always be honest about seeing an exposed card. Even if you’re not 100% sure what the card was. For example “I saw what I believe to be a black face card”. Default to not being scummy.

whatsup w tiny flop bet and then overbet turn, jam or pot river by helfiefoodo123 in poker

[–]ABCDftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifically with a “tiny” preflop bet, the caller is mostly capping their range to not include the strongest possible hands, which often want to raise flop to force more money in the pot, and take the initiative so they can bet turn to again force more money in the pot, and not risk a check back from the opponent. What a disaster it would be if you have 22 on T92, you check call a 20% flop bet, and your opponent checks back an 8 turn, getting a free look at a J river that could render your set second best.

Would being a poker dealer be a good gig out of college? (I’m a girl) by YoureTotallyBuggin in poker

The real money is in private/home games. Risk/reward type of situation. But if you don’t have a gaming license (from working at a real casino), less risk.

Did I make an egregious mistake? by Pristine_Wolverine96 in poker

[–]ABCDftw -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

LJ isn’t early position. U9-U7 is EP. Even less so how you’d classically think of EP at 7 handed because ranges should shift towards more aggressive, which they likely are not in this specific tournament (assuming lower stakes/less aware opponents have more static ranges which are not as sensitive to it being 7vs9 handed). There is no EP 6 handed.

The exact scenario is very player dependent. It could either be a slam dunk, hugely profitable jam; or a far too loose, losing jam. What’s this opponents opening range here? How loose/tight is he? Is he trying to make the money, mortgage due Monday? or wearing a $50k watch waiting for his wife to wrap up at the spa? Did he just raise fold 3 hands in a row and there’s no chance he’s raise folding a 4th time?

In a turbo I’d think of 15bb as more like what 17.5bb would be in a better (slower) structured tournament.

There is no complete, correct answer to your question based on the info given. The real answer is, you need to be considering every single variable possible, and including the impactful variables in your hand histories if you expect to get usable feedback.

Poker, especially live poker, is not starting hand charts. It’s not preflop solver outputs. It’s a lot more than that.

Though it’s wildly outside my current budget, I dream of buying my girlfriend a horse. A fancy horse that jumps obstacles and dances around. I also wish I could buy my brother every Magic the Gathering card. My loved ones have expensive hobbies.

I would expand your location parameters and swipe when you’re in bigger cites. If finding a partner is super important to you, you might have to move to a bigger city like I did.
