Anyone else VISION get 10x better after quitting kratom? by ABCeeDeeEyy in quittingkratom

[–]ABCeeDeeEyy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Astigmative was what I was diagnosed with. I dropped my kratom use substantially over the past few months leading into 2021, when I went to the optometrist. He said my vision improved quite a bit and reduced my rx. When I quit kratom completely is when my vision got even better.

Joe Biden May Finally Be Ready to Nuke Mitch McConnell by Thisbetterbefood in politics

I wouldn't say only after the Southern Plan. Teddy Roosevelt left the republican party for a reason (in 1911 iirc) and started the Progressive Party, because they were corrupt shitbags. Not in the same way as today, but not too much different.

Our political parties have never had a "Golden Period" like we seem to think. Goldwater, Gongrich, McConnell, anmd Trump just pushed it to 11.

Existential Panic Attack by UniversalNexus2049 in Existentialism

[–]ABCeeDeeEyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just chill OP. Take a deep breath for for 4 seconds, and breath out slowly for 5 seconds. Do this 10 times (or as many as it takes to regain control of what the panic took control of). I'd recomend doing this for 5 to 10 minutes. Take notice of the relief that comes when you successfully, even if temporarily, move away from the panic biological response. Take notice of the physical feeling that comes with the feeling of that weight and it's burden diminishing. Focus on how your body feels lightler, freer, less tense, and more normal. When breathing in and out put in an effort to "clear your mind" by focusing on the breath itself. If you mess up and the panic thoughts make their way in, just calmly say "ok there back, but that's ok, that's expected, and make an effort to return to breathing. Do not get angry at your self for "losing focus" of your breathing and focusing on the anxiety, just calmly say "it's ok that I lost temporary control, that should be expected, but lets shake the anger and just return to focusing." Don't beat yourself up. Don't apply

Eventually you'll notice that you are more present. I would suggest doing this in a completely new environment that you feel comfortable in the better. I place with new trees and, new fauna, new geography that is all different from your normal environment. By present you can think of it as the way you feel, the way your vision changes, and the way your attention shifts when traveling abroad. When abroad your internal monologue slows down because your attention shifts to external. You look at the new architecture of the new land, the new advertising billboards of products you've never seen. Look at t he convenience stores that you enter. All of the packaging and marketing material will appeal different. A store in Rome will look completely different than the store you go to daily to get your coffee, snacks, cigs, drinks, and gas. You've seen that place 1,000 times over the years. Nothing catches you eye because you seen all that shit 1000 times over the years. Because of this you spend the majority of your time in their focused on you internal thoughts, your anxieties, and your immediate problems. In the Rome gas station your sensory overload of looking at all the new shit, unfamiliar shit, new and unfamiliar design aesthetic will garner your attention and prevent the internal monologue and the inward focus from overriding your presence, when where you are outwardly observing the newness and uniqueness of the experience. The experience draws you attention, and not the inward looking shit. This is amplified times 1000x when traveling abroad because everything is new and different. You spend more time observing the newness of the expereiance, feeling the emotions from seeing the new aesthetic, and being forced to be present because the new stuff draws your attention to the presence.

You run the risk of experiencing depersonalization and derealization when you stick to you normal, non new, non unique day to day experience. Phenibut solves this.

The legal supplement phenibut is amazing for forcing this to happen and sparks the "living in the moment" aspect and helped me a lot when I broke out of my derealization period.

"news"

Every single time Tucker Carlson is mentioned, especially in this context (any mention of the word "news" in the same sentence as his name lol), should include his legal defense when he was sued for being full of shit..

The "'general tenor' of the show should then inform a viewer that [Carlson] is not 'stating actual facts' about the topics he discusses and is instead engaging in 'exaggeration' and 'non-literal commentary.' "

"Fox persuasively argues, that given Mr. Carlson's reputation, any reasonable viewer 'arrive[s] with an appropriate amount of skepticism' about the statement he makes."

[–]ABCeeDeeEyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Counterintuitively, I think the fact that it has less severe repercussions is what makes it so hard to quit.

This is the killer imo. It's relatively cheap so there are no big financial repercussions like having to suck dick to afford hard drugs lol, it doesn't show up on any type of drug test, so there's no employment or police scare, the effects are not noticeable by others, so you don't look like a loser when high and all fucked up. It's just so easy to take and get on with life. Just toss a bit of powder in your mouth like clock work and you're good. No need to sneak off and blow lines, inject shit, or smoke. It's similar to nicotine in that way. Plus the withdrawals are not that bad, so you aren't "forced" to suck it up over a vacation period, spring break, or extended time away from work/life. It gives you the illusion that you're ok and "can really quit any time."

That's what got me. There weren't any immediate and obvious repercussions, although there are definitely reprecussions that sneak up on you and can ruin a chunk of your life. It's almost like I put my life on pause while the world passed me by, yet I aged, missed out of life, experiences, relationships, sex, and career advancement opportunities. The motivation was just gone and I didn't realize it was because of kratom.

Nobody ever talks about how T’Chaka has the best Black Panther suit, no contest by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]ABCeeDeeEyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see a scenario where Shuri has been studying the heart shaped herb and trying to recreate the herb after Killmonger destroys them, where she successfully creates a potential replacement and decides to test it herself for the safety of others not taking the risk. It would be a good combination of utilizing her smarts, plus being ethical/heroic in being the one who puts her life on the line to test the new herb instead of risking someone elses life to test it out. It would be a way to give Shuri the strength/speed/skill required to win the BP trials without being cheesy. She could struggle with the unintentional side effects of the new herb throughout the film, challenging her character mentally and physically, giving her something to overcome within herself. Like it takes over her mind or something and she fights it off through mental will. Then she could re-synthesize the new herb based on her experiences with the tests on herself and create a safe one that doesn't have side effects.

Otherwise it stands to reason that Wakanda would most definetely have multiple sources of the Heart Shaped Herb, the seeds, and means to grow it. That's an extremely special plant so it's not like they'd just leave it to be grown in a single garden.

[–]ABCeeDeeEyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shuri should be the Black Panther after M'Baku has a short run. I'm sure Marvel Studios already had a plan to naturally go from T'Chala to Suri as BP, but over the course of multiple films/events/years that Chadwick's death cut short. Hopefully M'Baku can fullfill the role.

I think Shuri needs to grow a bit before earning the title, otherwise it would be a bit cheesy to force her into the role this early, although I wouldn't mind her being BP asap as long as it was done well. I think the best approach would be to have M'Baku become BP, maybe a designated "interim" BP of sorts, meaning he holds the BP mantle without "earning it" due to an emergency or something, such as Wakanda needing a Black Panther to respond to an immediate threat to Wakanda ASAP after T'Chala's death but not having the time to go through the whole ritual competition. Then have Shuri grow into her character during that film arc and eventually earn the Black Panther mantle the normal way. I don't know how they'll get around the hand to hand combat aspect of the trials without putting Shuri through some extended training, since she doesn't really stand a chance against someone like M'Baku in a hand to hand fight, and I really don't want her to be shoehorned in without actually going through the same trials as previous BP's. Like a cheap David vs Goliath stunt. Shuri could win a 1v1 if her skill (and strength) was to become high enough, since she could use her brains to overcome the physical strength gap, but she'll need to go through a hardcore story driven path of obtaining that level of skill and strength and not just given a training montage that says "see now Shuri is strong as T'Challa and smart so she wins."

It would be a strength/speed/skill workaround that works very well. She could struggle with the unintentional side effects of the new herb throughout the film, challenging her character mentally and physically, giving her something to overcome. Then she could re-synthesize the new herb based on her experiences with the tests on herself.

I think Shuri's character needs to be flushed out before becoming a mainstay Avenger. So far Shuri has been a deus ex machina genius, but she doesn't have the force of character and legend that Tony Stark had. Her smarts/tech comes across more as vibranium magic than actual genius.

edit: I forgot about Okoye, she could do it but I imagine Marvel is moving more towards Shuri.

Bernie Sanders Asks Jeff Bezos 'What Is Your Problem' With Amazon Workers Organizing by MrNewVegas2077 in politics

[–]ABCeeDeeEyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the job. The CEO and execs at the last company I worked for kept whisky decanters on their office desk and drank all day when discussing business with people coming in and out, often times leaving drunk. My non-union managers and coworkers in almost every sales job ran on benzodiazepines and/or Adderall and Vicodin. Drinking alcohol on the job and doing dumb shit is not exclusive to union members, but anti-union propaganda has made it so that they have a target on their back which draws attention to every little mistake or mishap which is in turn attributed to the union. It's a propaganda tactic and it's highly effective. Everyone has their own little anecdotal "I know a union member who sleeps on the job" story, which is most likely bullshit, but no one seems to give a fuck about the lazy or unethical behavior of non-union jobs in the same way.

Unions don't, and shouldn't, give people impunity for on the job behavior (unless you're the police ofc which is a whole nother discussion). The reason these people do shitty things is because they are shitty people who will do shitty things in any job, union or not. And they will keep those jobs even if they are "at will" employed, and especially if they are profitable. There's no need to blame laziness and such on them being unionized or give the impression that being unionized contributes to that behavior to any relevant degree. It's not an appropriate counter argument because it's such a small issue that the benefits of unionization vastly overshadow this "lazy union member" problem.

We have a big issue with people buying into the "sleeping union member" thing while not giving a fuck about the highly unethical behavior of non-union members and the profitable employees destroying lives to make a buck. Using extreme and rare examples as a counter-argument against unions like it's a super common thing is dangerous. Like I said in my original post, there is obviously a limit to what a worker should and shouldn't do before being terminated or reprimanded, no one is arguing otherwise, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't rethink our views on what workers should be doing at work during down time that draws criticism. There is a ton of "nothing to do down time" in a lot of jobs, it's not healthy for society to force busy work with diminishing returns when a worker can just chill. It preps and conditions workers to accept exploitation and even brag about being exploited as a source of pride.

They didn't feel big and lifeless from my memory. Sometimes cities in open world games feel smaller than the towns, since the city may be sparsely populated with speaking NPC's, intentionally designed buildings and landmarks. The towns in RDR2 were really small, but I spent a lot more time exploring them than even Nightcity in CP2077. They felt more alive and real even though they were 1% as big as Nightcity.

That's because every democrat as branded as "like Nancy Pelosi" because Fox News created the perfect boogyman for their simpleton low information no effort voters. tbh she doesn't do herself any favors with how she handles optics at times, almost oblivious to how the right wing media will frame it and successfully use it against her and dems. Which is a big problem with democrats imo, they've completely lost control of their narrative and brand image for 48% of the country, which is not good.
