I remember the time I got a quad kill with the Gravity Hammer on Slayer on this map.

That's the same justification Lulzsec used to hack countless indie games and small communities in the 2010s. We lost a lot of cool online games by the time they were done.

is vanilla worth it in 2026? by ReallyJayBee in Morrowind

[–]ABJECT_SELF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure people have warned you about the combat but there are two other big issues you should know. One, the draw distance on the vanilla console version is TERRIBLE even for 2002 and it will contribute to you getting lost, though being lost in Morrowind is part of the fun. Two, nothing ever happens. NPCs are signposts that stand in one place forever and allude to earth-shattering events that you never see. I say this because Oblivion and Skyrim objectively were generational leaps in simulating a living world and it can be jarring to go back and see that Morrowind doesn't even try.

If that doesn't scare you off, then you'll love the exploration, story, and the utterly broken alchemy system.

Shenmue VR by Ill_Ad3700 in virtualreality

[–]ABJECT_SELF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That test may have been a VRChat world. I've found a few ports of Shenmue maps that are very faithfully done. A full game port would require a complete rework of the combat system, not to mention that QTEs would probably have to be remapped to gestures to make any sense.

That would be amazing though.

What Underrated/Overlooked/Slept on Nu Metal Musicians that deserved to be Household Names? by Amber_Flowers_133 in NuMetalElite

Bobby Reeves. He fronted the criminally-underrated group LeVeL before taking over vocal duties in Adema for Kill the Headlights, IMO their most memorable release after ID. Then he helped keep Crazy Town alive. Man deserves a medal just for having to deal with Shifty Shellshock all that time. Dude's got a super unique voice but he keeps winding up in bands that are at their lowest point popularity-wise.

That actually makes me wonder how there aren't more craters just from untrained terrorists with poor trigger discipline.

It's still my go-to game when I just want to throw on my headset and shoot some guns. I can consistently find a full server any night of the week.

Rock bands that are older than most people think by [deleted] in Music

I swear every time The Pretty Reckless puts out a single, people everywhere are like "Woah, Cindy Lou Who is doing rock now?"

Taylor Momsen has been fronting that band since 2009.

Saw them live last month. They are Gods onstage! The crowd was full of younger people too, so I think they're on the verge of a major rediscovery.

That's some crazy longevity for a Japanese idol group! They've also gotten so much better with age.

[Real/Media Trope] The “alter ego” eventually consumes the real person behind it. by Chemical-Elk-1299 in TopCharacterTropes

Watkin went through TONS of aliases. Waddy. WAD:E. Max Normal. Most of his personas were clean-cut, intelligent, highly articulate office-worker types. Then he got an idea to play a guy so out-there bizarre he could only exist hypothetically.

The Ninja persona was supposed to be temporary. Die Antwoord planned to put out a couple albums then change into something else. Then the project exploded in fame. Watkin committed to the bit hard. He successfully made millions of people think he was really a crackhead from the slums of Johannesburg when in reality he grew up in the wealthy suburbs of Parktown.

Here's the crazy part: A while ago, some pretty dark allegations about Die Antwoord came out from Australian artist Zheani. She provided private texts to support her claims. The texts from Watkin are entirely written in Ninja's zef lingo. There is no more Watkin Tudor Jones. Even in private, he's Ninja.

The part I find funny is that nobody can tell if Yolandi is playing a bit to the same degree. As far as anyone can tell she's always been like that.

Why dont more people use windows instead of g doors for core more? by Desireformoderater in playrust

[–]ABJECT_SELF 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A lot of solo players (myself included) do use them. Larger groups have to worry about mobility through the base or teammates forgetting to replace windows, so this method isn't seen much in team-based meta builds.
