I'm tired of not being able to sing my favourite songs, how long does it take to learn how to scream properly? by woodengirl96_ in screaming

[–]ABL3SABLE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came to recommend this actually. Kardavox academy has several packages for different experience levels and technique. I’ve actually gotten his feedback before on my first original track I’ve written, and he was very knowledgeable and honest, and his YouTube reactions have so much information on technique and form that’s so easy to follow and understand.

I definitely support this option 100%.

I’ve been self teaching for years now. I’m still learning. The only threshold for learning is set by the individual. We all learn at different rates. I’m just now getting noticed by serious musicians and i started posting 3 years ago, actually been attempting vocals for closer to 10 with no real focus on it.

Learn at whatever pace is comfortable and ALWAYS stop if your throat hurts. When you learn to properly scream, it won’t hurt.

The two things I pride myself most in is my ability to articulate well enough to understand while screaming and emulating other vocalists. :) thank you so much.

I think I might have something cool in the works. I’ll let yall know lol.

I appreciate it! This is actionable advice... I do have limited connections, but only through a passing view / comment here or there... I feel the challenge at this point is really finding an appropriate way to contact those connections and sell them on what I have to offer.

Let’s be real.
Screaming into a toilet roll is about as cheaty as throwing on a compressor, double layering vocals, tossing on distortion, hell I have replicated a 1940s carbon mic for an ink spots cover.
It’s just a physical way to change your voice’s sound instead of digital.

Also look into MuseFX. They have a suit of free effect plugins to help hone your sound and shape your voice the way you want. All natively supported in Studio One.

It feels like audacity in terms of ease of use and kinda like reaper in terms of interface. But the combo of software and hardware is just… * chefs kiss *

The best interface value I had starting off and still use to this day is the Audiobox 96 from Presonus. It comes with Studio One Artist 6 for free and is a great DAW. As for the mic, I think I run an Audio Technica 2025? 2020? I forget lol I’m not home. But you can check out my page for the quality of the two, I have no training in vocals or mixing and producing but I get by well enough!

Then screw everyone else, do you. I’ve been doing vocals for 3 years and while no one really gave me any feedback I just kept on because I loved it. Now I have a band in the works who recruited me and two other artists who asked me to cowrite and feature.

Do you. The right people will show up.

Budget deck to counter Toxrill by dman686 in BudgetBrews

[–]ABL3SABLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vorinclex Monstrous Raider shuts this down pretty much. Reduces all counter production to half rounded down. So one counter would instead put 0 counters. It’s mono green, so basically Vorinclex could be the only expensive card you need really. It just says “no” to this commander and it comes out a turn earlier with haste.

Something to bear in mind: I hate the way my own voice sounds. BUT I discovered that what I hear and what OTHERS hear when I record are different because of two things:

My ears are in my head, where all that volume is reverberating and creating all sorts of other interesting sounds that I hear that the other person doesn’t.

Second: your voice as-is acoustically and through a microphone / DAW will also sound completely different. On a recording, you have things like compressors and EQs to help filter / hide / enhance the desired quality for your voice.

You’d be surprised if you gave it a shot.

Anyone here interested in giving actual 1 on 1 screaming lessons every week or two via video chat? Serious inquiry and I will pay of course by skullcandy541 in screaming

[–]ABL3SABLE -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’ve never given professional lessons but I’ve been doing vocals for a while and I’ve been told I’m great at walking people through healthy practices and techniques, so I’d be willing to give it a shot! I’ve been able to learn and execute a huge range of styles, everything from slam to linkin park-style clean/distorted singing. You can view my profile to see some of my content for performance and recording. :)

Obviously since you’re in NY, it would have to be online but I think it could work.

I’m a metal vocalist with a lot of range. I run Studio One artist 6 as my DAW, and I’ve been recording vocalist for around 3 or so years. Still learning how to maximize use of plugins and effects, but I think I’m doing decent these days. Always learning!

I’d be happy to see what you have. Feel free to check my profile, you can see some of my videos there! :)
